Old question.

This question gets old but is always good to bring up some debate...

It seems to me like it creates debates that go around and around without conclusive evidence for benefits of any caliber. Every caliber has its advantages and disadvantages... with good shot placement and the right bullet/powder they'll all do the job.

Also do you mean handgun for self defense, hunting, sidearm in the woods.. general "only caliber I can own" gun... etc..?

Maybe it's "What handgun caliber can you find ammo for?"

Hmmm...a lot of people have already voted for .45ACP, how do they know the question is not "Which caliber would you prefer to be shot with given a choice?"

I voted .45 but any gun in the hand is better than one left at home

Not always. If you have a rational reason for the poll, then try again. As it is now, the thread is pointless - and closed.
