Lots of good to choose from...
I personally like Smith and Wesson revolvers more than any others I have had (Ruger and Colt). I think the 686 is one of the nicest revolvers ever made in terms of weight to strength.

Other -LeMat, nine for sure, plus a shotgun. 2nd place - Colt Walker because sometimes you just need to pistol whip an elephant.

Ruger will give you the most quality gun for your money. There are better guns out there, but not better gun values.

It is a hard choice. I love S&W's, but the truth is as I see it, the Colt Python. The quality exceeds that of the S&W's.

In revolvers you just cant beat Colt.
Quality wise I have yet to squeeze a btter trigger than Python. If they were available in Pakistan, I would buy all Colts that my yearly budget for handguns allow. |

As much as I love the old double action Smiths, my favorites are the single action Rugers.
I voted Ruger! |

This thread confuses me. Does it say "Best for the money" somewhere? Rugers are great for the price, but best? S&W's are great, and for double the cost, the performance center will make them a little better. And where are all these great new Colt pistols at?
Best quality, workmanship, accuracy, tolerances? Freedom Arms, CNC machined and hand fitted. Best.

The question is difficult, because different models from different manufacturers may be "best" for different purposes. Ruger makes some great single actions, and S&W doesn't make single actions, so Rugers are "best" in that category. Smiths have a reputation for good triggers, making them good target guns, in the right model. My favorite over all revolver is the S&W 686 + Mountain Gun. 7 shots of .357, in a strong "L" frame, with the weight reduction of an extra chamber in the cylinder and the 1/2 under barrel lug making the gun weigh about the same as the old "K" frame model 19 S&W, what's not to like? Colts are too expensive these days, and too limited in their modern offerrings, to be a real option for most of us.

I'd like to see a three-way battle royal between a Smith 686, Ruger GP100, and a Colt King Cobra (or Trooper Mk V) for longevity with full house .357s and accuracy.
