I wonder if these modest usage figures are typical of XD users

If so, we may never know if they hold up to moderate/hard usage

My "hard usage" handguns see more like 7 - 10,000 rounds in a year

I did a little searching a while back, just to aggravate my Glock armorer buddy, and found a gun review in which the XD passed the "Glock torture test".

I love my XD9 service model. I'd carry it on duty if they didn't make us all carry Glock 22s.

I've put a lot (sorry I don't have an exact figure) of Win Ranger SXT +P+ though mine and it eats it up with no malfunctions.

When I first bought it I wasn't carrying ccw all the time, and after an overnight camping trip I saw a little rust on the slide. But, for about a year now I've been carryin ccw all the time, IWB and I haven't seen a speck of rust. And I normally only wipe it down with my t-shirt before storing it.

I'm at somewhere around 8,000 rounds now in my Service model XD9 with zero failures. Different ammo types, mostly WWB.

7100+ rounds through my XD9 since April 2006. I had a few FTEs when my round count was under 500 but I suspect that was due to limp wristing. I haven't had any problems since.

No rust either. I'm not as meticuous as others. I only clean my guns after 2000-3000 rounds. I store it in a small safe indoors. No extra care or fancy coating applied.

Here's the link to the 20,000 round torture test. Good article.

The Springfield XD definitely has my vote over the Glock as far as looks is concerned. It seems to be as dependable as Glocks as well.
