Ruger Alaskan in .45 ACP
No, that is not a mistake. There is one that shoots .45 ACP.
Actually, all the .454 Casull Alaskans do. You just need the special moonclip. The one my brother invented. I gave him a moonclip for N-frames and he set to work with a Dremel tool. He thinned the "finger" area of the clip (not the center) to about half the original thickness. And now he can shoot .45 ACP anytime, with no modification to his pistol. It is my plan to eventually get pic's of this modified clip and post them, but don't be holding your breath. Bart Noir Whose brother says 230 grain hardball recoils less in this gun, than the .45 Schofield Cowboy loads. Go figure. |

That's interesting. I thought about that possibility myself. I asked Dave Clements about it and he said the accuracy of such a configuration "would leave much to be desired". Let me know how yours shoots.
