Victor .32 S&W ctge ammunition?
Serial number 55428, 5 shot. No other markings. Both 32 s&w and longs fit in this weapon. Can I use either? It seems both have pretty similar stats. Thanks!

Others with more knowledge will chime in shortly I expect, but I did the research for my H&R .32 S&W and found that if the markings say it is a .32 S&W then .32 S&W long should not be fired in that gun. To fire .32 S&W long is should say .32 S&W long. The .32 S&W is a nearly obsolete caliber and I have had a hard time finding factory ammo for my H&R. The best I could find was $18.00 US for a box of 50 at a gun show. The retailers that carry it charge much more for it. Reloading is the way to go with any obsolete caliber and as soon as I can clear a space in the garage, that is what I am going to do.
For your information, my H&R will chamber a .32 S&W long but that doesn't mean it is safe to fire the long cartridge in it. If I remember correctly, the .32 S&W is an updated black powder cartridge. The .32 S&W long was designed for smokeless powder. I like the .32 on the range as there is hardly any recoil and I can re-acquire my target immediately. Much like shooting a .22 for practice. No. Do not use Longs in this particular gun. Victors were meant to be used with .32 S&W ammo.
