They are both nice, but I was referring to the top picture PPK/S(?) If that is a PPK/S, did you have the "S&W Houlton, ME USA" moved to the frame or did your weapon come like that? My PPK/S has it on the slide.

That is the PPK/S. It is the "Aristocrat". It came that way. The oversized wooden grips it comes with almost make it look like a PPK since you cannot see the metal back on the grip frame.

jrfoxx,
Nice little piece of family history you have there. I have a a .22 S&W that my grandmother used to compete with in a safe deposit box back home. It was the gun she used most of here reign as our tri-county marksmanship champ and as state champ. It belonged to her father before her and it is also the one I shot myself in the foot with as a kid.

I believe it is a model 17. I doubt it will ever be worth much as a collectors gun (even though it is well maintained and in great shape) but it is very valuable to me. I keep it in a safe deposit box in case of fire or break in here at home.

zappadragon,
I actually like those pale wood grips in combination with the stainless. They give the gun an almost "ghost like" quality.

What can I use to get rid of some light scratches on the slide and frame? Has anyone ever tried anything for that?

Yes, I have. A Dremel tool with a felt wheel and some Simichrome polish on the lowest setting should do the trick, as long as it's a stainless-steel firearm. NEVER try that on a blued-steel gun!
