You're carrying in a nice resturant. Time to make a head call...
You go into a stall... What do you do with the handgun? (I hope the answer isn't "splash"!) [This message has been edited by Ezeckial (edited March 01, 2000).] |

Shoulder holster. If it's a nice restaraunt you have to wear a jacket anyway, right?
I think conventional wisdom says to lay the gun muzzle forward across your underwaer untill your business is concluded. I'm pretty sure that I actually read this in a magazine once a long time ago. I think it was Wiley Clapp but don't quote me. By the way, I assume you had to attend to "serious" business. |

Whether it's #1 or #2, it might make sense to use the stall either way.
Standing at a urinal makes you a great target for a wallet-snatcher (another reason not to put your $ in the back pocket), and if you are actually attacked you're going to have an awkward time fighting back while "it" is out in the breeze. If you're sitting down, you can have your hand on the firearm and you are facing the door if someone opens it up with ill intentions. (And what other intentions would they have? Good intentions? I don't think so.) Just my $.02, -Kframe |

In my state, carrying into a nice resturant usually means that that nice place serves alcohol for consumption. That makes it OFF LIMITS, and a felony to have a concealed weapon.
Otherwise, use the last stall, usually the handicap one. It is usually in the corner, too, which helps protect your sides. Place your sidearm in your underpants, between your legs, after removing it from whatever holster that you use. This keeps it concealed and available. Someone always says in this thread to put the gun in your underpants.
This is why your momma told you to wear clean underwear. Personally, I find that with a pocket holster there is no problem and with a quality IWB that will hold the gun solid and the handicapped stall for room, no problem. |

Greetings; Funny thing, not too many years
ago a U.S. Marshal friend to mine had to go into a stall at a major restraunt to do #2. After completing his business and re-dressing himself; he walked out of the stall, and left his duty weapon on the back of the commode. Needless to say, when he discovered the mistake he was already back in the company of his supervisor; who promptly wrote him up!!! Moral of the story is; "Always have your weapon; even if you don't have your underwear". Best Wishes, Ala Dan, N.R.A. Life Member |

Hello again all; On another occassion, a veteran police officer from my department
entered a stall at headquarter's, to proceed with function #2. Instead of securing his Glock 17 before hand; it entered the stall as well. While undressing, the officer decide's to hang the G-17 on the coat hanger; located on the rear of the stall door. Then is closing the door, the G-17 starts to fall; the officer in desperate attempt to recover, grabs the semi auto while the gun is still supported by the coat hanger!!! Result was, one fired 147 grain Black Talon thru the ajointing wall and into the shower. Good thing there wasn't anyone in the shower; as perhaps they certainly would have been shot. Shortly there afterwards, this officer retired. Regards, Ala Dan, N.R.A. Life Member |
