M97 Winchester(s)

I am lucky and have 3 M97's. Two are in excellent condition while the 3rd was kept in a corn crib, barrel down for years. It is mechanically sound and not too bad after a clean up. Question: I'm thinking of modifying this to a trench gun (barrel, bayonet adapter, hand guard). Should I just leave it alone or would this project be worthwhile.......thanks

Welcome to our nightmare!

The modification shouldn't hurt anything - especially on the rough gun. The accessories all bolt on so it can be converted back at any time. I say go for it!

BTW - Repo bayonets are much cheaper (and virtually identical) than originals.
