storage and moisture question...

Our bedroom goes from 90 to 50 degrees in a given day....should worry about rust or condensation...I have a bunch of those desecant things....should I put them in w/ the guns or just leave them well oiled...2 blued revos,1 blues auto,1 ss revo..?
so far no signsof any damage,just being cautious and wanting my guns to last longer than me...thanks

Guns & Moisture

YES! Store those dessicant things with your guns. I live in the "dry Southwest" but run a swamp-cooler 5 months/year.
I have a friend(retired LEO/gun "nut")who has quite a collection;
he's stored his guns and 1000's of rounds of ammo in his place
for years with NO RUST on any firearm or damage to ammo.

I got some of the BIG bags of the stuff at a gun show cheap
and keep them right next to handguns and ammo. I prefer this to greasing the weapons, as I shoot them a lot. If I planned on long-term storage, I'd oil down the exterior and innards...so far, no rust!

Regular inspection and cleaning of stored firearms in a must. Always keep them clean and coated with a good CLP. I learned this the hard way.

If you use a dessicant...........

Make sure that the package/container does not come into contact with a metal surface (I put them in a open top tupperware dish) and make sure you change them periodically. Good shooting
