Guns.

More guns.

When I lived in the Los Angeles area, my gun theme was to "Survive Crime and Riots". Now I live way out in the mountains and the theme is to "Survive Snakes and Wild Animals". There is almost no crime up here, and no riots. So I put the city collection in the safe, and got me a country assortment.

Mine started out as "Hi-Powers and clones thereof". Shortly thereafter it evolved to "Hi-Powers and CZs". Lately it has been "Service grade handguns". I figure it will devolve into "Whatever has whispered to me at a gun show".

I guess mine would be:

No .22LR's, no 1911s, and no plastic. I like steel, and guns based on the CZ grip or Beretta. The .22 thing will be changing soon. I doubt I will ever own a polymer gun, or a 1911 again.

My theme is whatever strikes me at the moment that I fiund a deal on. So far, I only have a FNP-9, a RIA 1911, a Sig P220, and a little Tangfolio .25 pocket pistol.

"Theme" . . .

"Center-fire" for starters. I like steel over plastic, stainless if i can get it. Other than that, I'm pretty much wide-open. They're like footwear. I have footwear for mucking out the barn, and shoes for dancing . . .

I have to say I really admire the parts of your collection that you have shown us. A collection of any kind, in my mind, is a disciplined effort with a clear focus rather than mere accumulation of stuff with little relationship to each other. In other words, a collection does have a "theme" and is based on serious study and appreciation. While accumulation, regardless of amount, is fine and worthwhile and enjoyable for it's own sake, I wouldn't characterize it the same as collecting. So there is a difference. And I think that is what you are asking us to share in your post.

And the term "safe queen" seems to me to be pejorative...at least in this context....as if to say "if you don't shoot it it has no value" and you are, therefore, off the mark somehow in what you are doing and somehow don't "deserve" to have what you have. That is the way I take it, anyway. While having only useful arms may be appropriate or maybe the only reasonable thing for many of us, it seems to me that it misses the point of what you are trying to show.

Thanks for showing us a drawer or two. Perhaps you might consider opening another drawer or two for us in the future.

My own interest, if I have one that qualifies, is on pocket auto pistols in .32 and .380 from 1900 to just-before-the-polymer era. I regret to say that my collection consists but of a few. For now.

Well said!

Originally, when I started collecting guns, I was going for "every one from a different manufacturer, in a different caliber", and I for a time I was actually following it, but I've gravitated away from polymer (at one point I had a 2nd gen Glock 21 and a S&W Sigma SW9VE) and other guns I didn't shoot all that much (Rock Island Armory 1911, Ruger SP101) or found to be unreliable (H&R Sportsman, Keltec P11, Remington 1100) or inaccurate (Ruger BN-34X Blackhawk Convertible).

Now I've 'consolidated' on guns that I do shoot a lot (everything I have in .22LR), let me shoot clays (the 870), or just plain like (everything else), with a few redundancies (the Ruger pistols, and the S&W .22LR revolvers)

As Rem51 has correctly pointed out, I don't have a collection so much as an accumulation, but the theme would probably be something like "Why so many revolvers when you don't even have one shotgun yet?"
(I like revolvers )

my 'theme' has changed....for a long time it was strictly shotguns for hunting, and a S&W 66 for home. But my hunting buddy Grandfather has passed away, and i no longer have access to the land we hunted on.
Since hunting trips are rare for me these days, plus the moral and social decline of the country is so obvious, my theme has changed to the SHTF mode.

the last few years (most of it recently) i have accumulated....
a crapload of ammo.
2 ARs, one for varmint hunting, the other for zombies.
2 Glocks, 19 & 21sf ...reliable, and use the most common ammos
Remmy 12 ga 870 HD shotgun
and will soon order a Remmy 700 in .308

My theme has changed so many times I can't keep up. I collected for each phase I have gone through over the years, then sold to collect for the next phase. Now I just keep everything, and I now have a fairly well rounded collection. Single action autos, revolvers, DAO, TDA, steel frame, alloy frame, polymer frame, large, pocket rockets, etc. At this point I don't need to go shopping to keep up with the next change of taste.

I originally wanted something in every caliber, but changed my mind. I do have .22lr and .22mag, .32S&W,.32ACP, .38, .357mag, 9mm, .40, and .45ACP, in revolvers and pistols. I would like a .380, but have no desire for anything like .41 or .44 mag.
