Concealed carry w/o permit on private land

Recently, there have been several threads about open carry while at home. Here's a new scenario and question:

You live in a shall-issue state for concealed handguns. You don't have the permit. You're on land that is privately owned (yours). Would it be legal to carry concealed on your own land?

Alternatively, you're carrying concealed in your home (same scenario, you have no permit) and a LEO comes by to talk to you about something. Would it be legal to have the firearm concealed?

Of course, there's a lot of "if's" in the situation you describe, but given the general criteria of being in a typical shall-issue state, and on your own property, then yes, it is normally legal to carry concealed.

Lotsa variables in that one though, depending upon on the state or locality.

Check your indivdual state law at http://www.nraila.org/. Here in Maryland where it's just about impossible to get CCW the old adage "Your home is your castle" applies even here. I can carry concealed or non-concealed on any property I own, inside or outside.

Also check www.packing.org

In Kansas we are allowed to carry concealed w/o a permit on your private property and at your "fixed place of business".

Well

In Michigan you can carry anyway you want indoors of your home, but when you go outdoors unless you have a CCW on your person it had better be visible and on your own property.

Not quite correct in MI, you may carry concealed or otherwise on your own property and in your place of business. Jeff

Here in NC, you can carry concealed on your own property or your own place of business. You need a CC permit to carry concealed elsewhere.

I can't believe that any state/locality does not allow CCW on your own property?!?

Where is this not legal? Inquiring minds want to know!
