The MOMS are building up their grassroots communication tool, the MMM E-News, by sending out notes to friends across the United States to sign on to an invitation to urge First Lady Laura Bush to join with the MOMS to work for sensible gun laws and safe kids.
The Campaign was officially launched on Mother's Day as a means to gather names for local chapter organizing, build up the MMM E-News readership and to remind the current administration that the majority of Americans want common sense gun laws to keep our loved ones safe from gun death and injury. Not too surprisingly, the gun lobby is so intimidated by our campaign that they are trying to launch a counter campaign urging the President to stick to his pro-gun policies.

Chapters were given Campaign cards to distribute at local spring and summer events to promote awareness that more than 90,000 people in America have died from gunshots since April 20, 1999, the day of the Columbine tragedy. Our Congress still has NOT passed any sensible gun laws to protect our kids.

The Campaign cards urge the public to go to the website at www.millionmommarch.org/whitehouse to sign the invitation and SIGN UP FOR THE MMM E-NEWS. The MMM E-News has the latest information, action alerts and summaries of newspaper articles from around the nation and world to keep subscribers current on issues important to the gun violence prevention movement.

If you haven't sent along this important message to your family and friends, please do so today and let's keep building up the circulation of our MMM E-News. With the click of a mouse, you can get up to ten friends at a time on the road to learning more about the important work of the Million Mom March!

I sent this to first.lady@whitehouse.gov

Dear Mrs. Bush,

As a concerned mother, I know that guns in the hands of good citizens help protect moms and kids. I also know that many people want to pass laws that will take away my right to protect my family in the way I deem best. Some of those people have formed a political organization, masquerading as a "grassroots" movement, calling for more laws and more regulations against lawful, safe gun ownership and usage.

That's their right, as American citizens, and I support that right. But now they are urging you, as the First Lady, to use your position to press their agenda. And that's not right at all.

I ask you to say "NO!" to the Million Mom March and the people at the Brady Center. Don't let them use you as a political pawn on this hot-button issue.

Sincerely,

pax
