iron sights on an enfield

Hey gang, I have a question about what sort of rear sights to put on an enfield 2a. I don't like the rear ladder sight mainly because I can't really see through it very well and have a hard time finding the front blade - the slot is small and mounted very forward on the barrel. I am planning to mount the new rear sight just forward of the bolt and was thinking a ghost ring would allow me to find the front sight quickly. I have seen some rear sights that rotate or flip to quickly adjust for elevation (they adjust for standard distances - 100m, 200m, 300m), but only on modern assault rifles. Is there an equivalent that can be purchased and attached to any rifle? By the way, this is a truck gun and I care only about utility and nothing about its looks or keeping its historical integrity. I appreciate any input.

well, the later Enfields (no 4, right?) had some really nice aperature sights.. quite possibly better than the M1/M14 series I tend to think (heresy!!! ) Any chance they'd interchange?

Failing that.... both Williams and Lyman make nice aperatures.. don't know if any of 'em fit the Enfield though.

you won't get No.4 ones to fit on the earlier arms.
Most of the target sights are too expensive and delicate for your purpose. There was a small Parker-Hale PH16F 'Sportarget' aperture sight made for the SMLE many years ago for hunting purposes, a small neat thing that folded down out of the way when you didn't want it. It required the receiver to be drilled and tapped. Secondhand ones turn up occasionally.

Williams makes a model of their reciever sight that fits on arasakas, springfields, mausers and enfields.

I's not as quickly adjustable as the number4 sight, but it's definitely useable.
