The Associated Press

Just to keep this gun related:
Every time I read about PETA doing something stupid, it makes me want to go out, shoot an animal, drag it home, cook it and eat it.

i wish nature would lash out more at PETA. i always bust a gut laughing when one of the teddy-bear huggers gets killed by the nice lovable teddy bear they are trying to protect.

Gee, I find it tough to get worked up about this. One group I despise (PETA, serial assaulters of people who don't worship animals) busting up another group I despise (Victoria's Secret, objectifiers and exploiters of women). They deserve each other.

I still wonder why the brave PETA troops have the courage to assault women for wearing fur, but never seem to rush up and throw fake blood on leather-clad bikers.

Last I checked, Victoria's Secret is a corporation that sells some darned comfortable bras and lots of not-so-comfortable frilly things. And they seem to make a lot of money doing so. You better check your definition of "objectify"....

maybe for some people who only get the victoria secret catalog to drool over a scantily clad model wearing expensive undergarments. maybe thats the objectification. i dont see what the big deal is, same as i dont see why 'hooters' restaurant is so popular. horrible food, crappy customer service, but oh, women in tight tube tops and short shorts! lets take the whole family!

nahh, if i want to spend my hard earned money to lust, i can find better ways to do it, and without having to use my overworked imagination.

spacemanspiff- I went to Hooters ONCE. It was quite possibly the worst restuarant I've ever visited in my entire life. The food tasted horrible, the waitress had an attitude, and I'm surprised she even had all her teeth. Gross.

To all: Don't eat at Hooters...it reallyreally sucks.

I believe that VC does just about nothing to objectify women. They are selling things that associated with sexuality, therefore they have to have women that are attractive doing the modeling. I agree with spacemanspiff, if your blood boils over a VC catalog its time for you to switch to decaf.

Could it be that because there exists the possibility of REAL blood being spilled and teeth loosened? ? ?

Hey ... that's a good idea.
This being opening weekend, I think I'll do just that.

I just e-mailed PETA:

Just read about your protest at the Victoria's Secret fashion show. Lovely. Did you know that groups such as the Hells Angels, Pagans and others wear head-to-toe leather clothing? You might plan a trip to a biker rally, such as Sturgis, SD or Laconia, NH and make your feelings known.

If anyone threw "blood" at women I know, they'd get shot early and often. How's one to know it isn't an assault with a deadly weapon (AIDS+ blood)?

Well, Victoria Secrets needs to hire some farm boys, hunters to screen people who go to those shows. I'd volunteer, but NY is kinda far away.

PETA. Heh.

We are talking about some really, really misguided people. I couldn't imagine wanting to have anything to do with an organization that would destroy cancer research aimed at treating child-onset leukemia, just to release rodents. (You know, those creatures that assisted in spreading the Black Plague in the 14th Century, causing the death of about 1/3 of Europe?)

Can't find any way in which Victoria's Secret could be anywhere nearly as reprehensible, David, though I do wish they'd encourage their models to have a sandwich or something, once in a while.

At any rate, I've scoured my brain, and I really can't find any way in which thread is on-topic, so I guess it's closed.
