Help: LLama/Firestorm MiniMax .45/Mini Compact .45
Hello Everyone,
I'm a new member here, and I would like to know what all of you think of the Llama MiniMax .45 or the Firestorm Mini Compact .45. OK, I know what you're all going to say....Llama/Firestorm.... WHY? Let me explain. First of all, because of the X-mas shopping and everything, I don't have enough money to get a decent .45 semi pistol....not yet. I just want to get a .45 that I can play around with first and that is cheap, so that it doesn't hurt too much in the pocket in case you break it or loose it. I also want to get one before my BFSC expires the end of the year. I know it's a very easy test, but I hate taking tests and having to pay for it. Anyway, when I get some money saved up, I'll look into getting a Kimber, Les Baer, or Para Ord. I actually have a couple of handguns already, a Springfield XD-9 and Walther P22, and they both work great . But now I'm looking at getting a cheap .45 ACP semi-pistol, that is why I'm considering getting either a Llama MiniMax .45 or the Firestorm Mini Compact .45.I know for another hunder dollars or two, I could get something else like a Ruger P97 or a Taurus PT145, but their appearance does not appeal to me, eventhough they work better. Anyway, if you can give me some input on these two handguns I mentioned from LLama/Firestorm, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks, PJLM

Pjlm,
Welcome to the forum! I'm sure you'll like it here as there's lots of friendly people. First off, I'll say that Llama is plagued with lemons. All firearm manufacturers produce and circulate lemons, but Llama really pumps them out. However, I believe most Llamas are decent firearms. I've known several who own them and the general consensus is that it's a good value. I've had mine for a bit over two years now, but I've only put around 500 rounds through it. Mine has a tendency to eject a case straight back every so often. From the experience so far, I've found my particular Llama Mini-max quite accurate and dependable. I never had a malfunction within the 500 rounds fired, around 50 or so being generic JHPs and the rest hardball. In retrospect, I believe I made a good purchase with my Llama. It's a glovebox gun for my Jeep, and having purchased it NIB for around $220, I don't fret too much over it.

If you are wanting a good 1911 style 45 for reasonable bucks I would reccommend a Systema Colt 1927. They are affordable, true 1911's built on Colt machinery, and compatible with all upgrades. Welcome to the forum.

The Star Firestar M45 is a great little gun! I've shot thousands of rounds of factory and handloads through my gun, and it digest everything. Accurate for a small pistol too! Disadvantages: It's heavy for its size and Star is out of business.
