Help: LLama/Firestorm MiniMax .45 / Mini Compact .45
Hello Everyone,
I'm a new member here, and I would like to know what all of you think of the Llama MiniMax .45 or the Firestorm Mini Compact .45. OK, I know what you're all going to say....Llama/Firestorm.... WHY? Let me explain. First of all, because of the X-mas shopping and everything, I don't have enough money to get a decent .45 semi pistol....not yet. I just want to get a .45 that I can play around with first and that is cheap, so that it doesn't hurt too much in the pocket in case you break it or loose it. I also want to get one before my BFSC expires the end of the year. I know it's a very easy test, but I hate taking tests and having to pay for it. Anyway, when I get some money saved up, I'll look into getting a Kimber, Les Baer, or Para Ord. I actually have a couple of handguns already, a Springfield XD-9 and Walther P22, and they both work great . But now I'm looking at getting a cheap .45 ACP semi-pistol, that is why I'm considering getting either a Llama MiniMax .45 or the Firestorm Mini Compact .45. I know for another hunder dollars or two, I could get something else like a Ruger P97 or a Taurus PT145, but their appearance does not appeal to me, eventhough they work better. Anyway, if you can give me some input on these two handguns I mentioned from LLama/Firestorm, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks, PJLM |

I once had the Llama MiniMax 45acp. The only problem that I had with mine was accuracy it hit about 1 foot low at 10-15 yds. Now up close and personal from point blank to about 5yds it was ok on a man size target.
Mine was pretty reliable cant remember any malfunctions. Also the gun I had threw the empties back into my face. I had to do alot of ducking. I hear that this is common in 1911 type handguns. And this problem can be fixed but dont ask me how because I dont know. Maybe some other shooters can advise you on this. Good Luck.

definitely get the firestorm.....the llama minimax is a piece of crap....total junk...I can't even trade mine in.
firestorm, however, supposedly has much better quality standards even though they're both made in the same factories... |

Do you really need a 1911?
For the amount of money you are talking about, I'd think that you could find an EAA Witness in .45 or the Charles Daly DDA. The Charles Daly 1911's are supposed to be okay for a beater pistol, and they seem to have good customer support.
But you know, if you don't have enough money to buy a decent .45, you might not have enough money to buy .45 ammo. I'm getting into reloading so that I can afford to shoot the .45. Steve |

First off , the Firestorm and Llama 1911 style are the same gun . Same manufacturer . Same importer . They do differ somewhat cosmetically but not much .
We sell quite a few of these . Taking into consideration both models and different sizes , we sell around 50 a year . They have proven to be reliable and fairly trouble free . I think for the money , they are a pretty good buy . We are selling a full size Llama .45 high-polish blue w/chromed accents for $229 new with lifetime warranty . Years ago Llama was poor quality . Today , for the money , they are hard to beat . Mitch www.oldeenglishoutfitters.com |
