Auction Martini in 218 Mashburn
I attended an auction in mid-late summer and bought a 22 centerfire built up on a Martini Cadet action. Searching through the auction tables and couldn't find any 22 C/F dies and the barrel wasn't marked for caliber. Only one other guy wanted to take a chance on it so I ended up getting it for $160. Turned out to be a 218 Mashburn Bee. I bought some regular 218 Bee ammo and shot it a few times and it seems great and fireformed the cases very well. It had the old Leopold model mount on it and no scope, so I had it tapped for a Weaver mount. It was too late in the year around here for groundhogs as the crops were up really high last year.
I didn't get the Mashburn dies yet as they are well over $100 so I'll be shooting Regular 218 Bee this year. Any of the old timers or young guys that inherited a rifle have any experience with this cartridge? Thanks |
