Help w/My Next Purchase
Recommendations?
Smith and Wesson Model 66 vs. CZ52 7.62x25 Pistol The Smith is a police trade in, in VG to Exc condition, $100 + shipping. The CZ52 will be in Exc condition, $109+ shipping. Have never owned a wheel gun, and have really been wanting to own a CZ52, with the super hot and fast rounds. Suggesstions appreciated. Rob

S&W handsdown. Much better quality gun. I also think you will a better time shooting it.

Are you Chuck U. Pharley? I wonder WHO has M66s at $100.00?! They usually knock on $400.00. I would be interested in one at that price myself. I would look into a $100.00 S&W with suspicion. If it checks out OK, buy the M66. A CZ52 is just not all that and a box of chocolates.

$100.00 for a smith 66 in VG to EX condition? That is one heck of deal. Is this from an individual or a company. Be Careful "if it sounds too good to be true" comes to mind.

I am tempted to say S&W 66. But I would ask them about condition, and nail down how much of it is mechanical and how much cosmetic. At $100 I wouldn't care about scratches, dings etc. But something that is close to having gunsmithing work is another matter. You want something that is within spec and serviceable on all points; cylinder endshake, timing, etc, unless you are a capable smith yourself, or know one that will do work for free for you.

$100 for a Smith 19/66? Are you sure they're not just selling barrels?

Hello Pharley,
If that's a NYPD trade-in, I think I know where it's coming from. Know the dealer-collector-website. Buy it. You can always buy the 52 later. |

I love my dad's 19, if it checks out well that's the one I'd pick.
