New Czech Mauser and range report.
About a month ago I was in the market for a mauser and had the money so i had my dad back in n.c on the look out and he found me a very nice one with lots of goodies and ammo to boot. When My wife went home last week she brought it back and i took it to the range. i think that the ammo that came with it was turkish but i am not very sure. The bore is the best i have seen in a mauser, and the outer cosmetics are darn good too. I started out from the benchrest at 100 meters just to see were we were. Best three shot group at 100 was 1 1/4 " best five shot was 1 3/4 ". though the rounds were impacting about 6" high I knew that would be right on at 300 meters which is were i wanted it zeroed for. i moved out to 150 meters and the impact was area was the same and the groups about the same. only spreading by about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch. At 200 meters I was very excited and happy with the perfomance. Impact was a litte lower, right were i thought it should be. the best group was 3" for a 5 shot group. i was gonna take it out to 250 and 300 meters but I was tired of waiting on everyone else so that will be my project for next time. I also shot from the prone, standing, kneeling and sitting. I really am very happy with it and I reccomend it to anyone that wants a mauser on a budget. You want be disappointed. here are some pics.

Czech
It looks like you found one of the nicer VZ-24's out there. I have one with a rough stock and a worn bore but it still shoots pretty good. Mine also retains the Czech rampart lion which it appears to have been scrubbed on your receiver. Lots of history in those rifles.

Yep, the bug has bitten.
I don't have one yet...well...until tomorrow. I found a German K98 Mauser at a store here locally and will pick it up tomorrow. ( Had to do some "what to look for research" prior to putting the money down.) I do have a Steyr M-95 I picked up for just over $100 bucks. I love it. Have fun with it...make sure you keep it super clean. My collection starts tomorrow... Hope I can get some sleep.

I've been looking for a VZ-24 thats in as good of condition as yours for at least 5 years and haven't found one yet that wasn't outrageously priced. Good find
Now you need a 98/22 and a 98/29 to go with it.
