.45acp is OUTTA here!

Ive decided that .45acp is not for me anymore.Its just as fun and effective to shoot 9x19 and ammo costs are much lower.All of my .45acp's are on consignment except for the best and the funnest.
1.Best= S&W 4506
2.Funnest= Masterpiece Arms MPA-10
Outta here are a Charles Daly DDA,Glock 21,and a S.A.M.1911

Wow, you classify the S&W 4506 over a Glock 21? Guess there are opinions out there! haha... I like my .45 USP Compact...

Yeah since I got my Sig 220 I've been a .45 addict. Don't get me wrong, I like my 226 in 9 too, but the .45 has it beat for fun in my book.

That's funny, because except for my Hi Powers, I got rid of all my 9's to get 45's. I've read way too much from police, military, other self defense experts on the ineffectiveness of the 9, even hollowpoints, to be that comfortable with them anymore. 45's or 40's for me.

I've come to basically the same conclusion. I'll keep my last 1911 though, thank you...in .45 that is, since I also shoot the .45 super/triton super from it. But the 9 is fine!

Here's a twist : check out reloading. .45 acp is a classic, no-brainer to reload. Drops your costs down pretty well, adds another facet of fun to the hobby

OK, I'm not nearly as big on the .45 as I am on other calibers, specifically ones that can be fed through revolvers...

However, I just have to say...

Heretic.

I love my .45... but it will remain my one and only...forever. That's why I went "Colt".

There are plenty of other calibers to keep me busy... for less.

At the speed that JMB is spinning in his grave you could hook him up to a generator and power the city of Ogden.

Same here. I like the .45 but I dunno, read my signature.

P.S. - I don't mean what I say in the signature, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to offend thousands upon thousands of shooters, and I wanted to be a part of the "no matter how you try and rationalize it" caliber war crew, and IIRC 9mm and .45 were taken by other posters. It's a phenomenon. Just like Bunny.

Well if he's spinning in his grave it'd have to be a lot faster than any .45 round could hope to travel, right?

I used to have a Colt 70 series, 1911 in 45, and it was a great gun. I don't think I ever fired a round of factory ammo in it, except for old military stuff I found somewhere. I reloaded thousands and thousands of rounds for that gun, starting with a little hand Lee loader, and working my way up to a full reloading setup. If I remember correctly, I was useing a 230 gr RNL bullet over 5.4 grains of Unique. Didn't seem to matter how crappy my reloads were, that gun digested them all. New Colt magazines, old surplus military ones, didn't matter. The gun went boom, and hit pretty close to where I wanted it to.

Then I got out of shooting, sold the gun and the reloading stuff, and moved on to something else. Now I'm coming back to shooting after a 15 year layoff. My wife and I picked up several handguns last year, and we're going to be looking for a couple more in a few weeks or so. Probably start looking before then. Right now, logically, the 9mm seems to be a better deal. Ammo is cheap, low recoil, the guns we've got in 9mm are both as accurate as we can shoot. For the most part, we will use them for target shooting. We both carry CCW, but we're happy with out choices for that. For my wife the 9mm is about perfect.

There is something though that just wispers in my ear 45...45...45...45....

Im a huge 1911 fan, but in all honesty in the summer months my Browning hi power sends more rounds down range than any of my .45s.
Its cheaper for non-reloaders, the muzzle blast and flash are minimal and its easier an easier round over all on the ears and eyes and wrists.
Unfortunately its also easier on the bad guys, LOL....

Whenever I get the urge to shoot my .40, I haul out a .357 magnum. The muzzzle blast and flash are about the same, the recoil is close, but the revolvers shoot circles around my .40, LOL....

Winter is when I shoot most .45 acp ammo up for some reason.
