Final input on RRA Elite CAR A4
Well folks, I'm about ready to order an RRA Elite CAR A4 from Eagle Firearms (I'll actually order an upper & a lower, both RRA). Anyway, I wanted to run my specs by you to get your thoughts:
-chrome-lined barrel -removable tac mount (I plan on getting an Aimpoint later on) -mid-length rail I understand there are a number of options for rails available on RRA rifles. (I'll be buying with the rail already installed). RRA lists a Quad-rail free float & Surefire Tactical Rail Handguards on their website. Which one is better? The Surefire is more expensive, but that doesn't always mean better. Anything else I should consider?

sounds like it will be a nice rifle. i'm pretty new to AR's so my advice is worth what you paid for it.
the main advantage to the free float hand guard is that they are supposedly more accurate but since its a shorter barrel and not really meant for long range precision shooting, i'd rather have one that mounted to the front gas block area also for extra strength especially if you plan on mounting a back up iron sight on the top of the rail. less chance of dropping it and knocking the forearm out of whack. just an opinion. CAR Elite 16"
I bought the car elite 16" with chrome lined wilson barrel. Match trigger and mid length guard.
Excellent weapon. My first AR. It operates as expected of an AR (keep it clean) Some ammo is suspect (wolf) Does not always eject. Natec plastic ammo is cheap, but does not always chamber on first round. However, it is as accurate as SS109 62 grn military FMJ. That sums it up!!! Rock River fit and finish is, in my opinion far superior to the others. (even Colt) |

RRA rifles are very nice quality. I would recomend getting a LaRue 9.0 Rail--hands down the best out there. Also, If you intend to get an aimpoint in the very near future, I would recomend skipping out on the tactical rail and getting a nice BUIS--in this case, TROY is considered to be among, if not, the best one available. I think you'll be very pleased, and in MY experience, RRA has had better fit and finish than Bushmaster and LMT.

consider the midlength version, as the added length of the gas system is supposed to lend itself to greater reliability with sub-par ammo.
