The SW9VE is a great gun

I really like mine a lot. Shoots right to the point of aim and is a very safe home defense weapon. It is not a range gun though. It is a tactical weapon.

SW9VE
S&W 22S
Colt 1991A1
Ruger KP95PR15
Ruger KP345DPR
Ruger P512MKIII
Taurus 85B2

my sigma 9ve sees tons of range time.i've only had it a couple months now and i've pretty much tortured this thing.I got it when i got my tax return which was a bad idea because i bought 4,000 rounds of winchester white box fmj and hp's.I've fired all 4,000 rounds within a periond of 2-3 months.
i mean this thing is great,i've even fired 1,000 rounds in 1 range session to see if i would have any problems.so far so good,i've had no malfunctions at all.I don't knoe if you guys have shot your sigma as many times as i've shot mine but if you have you probably haven't had any problems.I didn't like the trigger pull at first but it has no safety so i knew it was supposed to be like that and after that many rounds it has really smoothed out.I hated the handle,i love the angle but those little ridges really made my hand hurt after a real long range session, so i bought a houge hand all rubber grip and i have nothing to complain about.I don't know how you can't call it a range gun, i mean i've had good and bad days but on my best days i've shot constant bulls eyes and allways group under 3 inches at 25 yards.I even full fire the whole clip just blast away and i stay under 5 inches with all 16 bullets. It is alot better then the taurus pt100 40 s&w i had but it's just my opinion and i'm sure some others will think different

One hell

I got two 40's, and love 'em like children, cept'n they don't have names like real children LOL. Haven't had a FTF or FTE on either at around 1000 rds each. One green and one black.

Have a great Kenpo day

it has no safety
It actually has a firing pin block, and a trigger safety. I don't mind the trigger on mine, although it was a bit heavy when new. I have about 2500 rounds through mine now with no problems except one failure to feed that I caused by not inserting the magazine fully. It is not a target pistol. If you want to brag about tight groups or 50 yard bulls eyes you will be dissapointed. For a defence weapon though it is ideal. 14 round (in .40) capacity, and no external safety lever. Easy to breakdown and clean, and accurate enough to do its job. I can do 3" groups at 25 yards, and my son can do better than that. (he has no arthritis yet).

9GVE here, I really like the gun for a carry and home defense gun. The only problems I ever had with it is when using some Russian Brown Bear 9mm ammo that feels really underpowered. Feeds and fires perfectly but doesnt have enough oomph to lock the slide back on an empty mag. Everything else I've put through it works great. Great gun for the money IMO.

<-40VE with over 1,000 rounds through it. no FTF,FTE. its been 100%.

heavy trigger but the heavy weight is a good safety. accuracy has been nice much better than I hear others giving credit for. though I do have the occasional shot that shoots low due to the shooters weakness.

planning on adding a 9VE and 22A soon

I have the 9VE and I like it a lot. I have seen several posts on these board implying "somehting bad" about the Sigmas, but without any specifics... Only comments such as "No as bad as the Sigma" or "I wouldn't wish a Sigma on anyone..."

The only specific thing mentioned was that thw Sigmas are now better than they used to be.

Any idea what these guys are talking about? Why are they bashing the Sigma? What do they know that we can't tell by actually shooting these guns?

Thanks.

Sw40ve

Smooth, sleek, and always dead-on-target after more than 3000 rds. It's not even broke in yet. Love it!

I can honestly only attribute Sigma bashing to diehard Glock shooters who can't handle the similarity in design. Personally, I'd take my Sigma over a Glock.

every manufacture even glock has lemons.

sigma gets bashed due to fact its a glock copy. some people despise that S&W copied it just for that alone. alot like to spout internet megaphone rumors. pay no attention to them.

I have a 40ve.

as per no manual safety the 8-12lbs trigger is safety enough if you pull it, its a deliberate pull. your not pulling it by accident unless your on a combination of meth and steroids.

I believe magazines may be causing some of the ftf issues and limp wristing.
9VE doesnt seem to have as many issues. like other guns havent had magazine issues. beretta m9 with aftermarket junk in US army hands, glocks with bad batches of followers. worn springs. feedlips opening up.

S&W service is best in industry.

if I need a gun with better trigger that will be Steyr Mannlicher M40/M9(absolutely spoiling trigger 5lbs short crisp pull w/short reset).

I plan on picking up a 9VE and a 22A.

heavy trigger is good to start on and once proficient move on to lighter, shorter crisper. your accuracy will be better in long run.

its annoiying how many whiny weazels their are about a gun not having a hair trigger so they cant get spoonfed accuracy and not because they have strength and skill.

made in the USA sold for $280-$350 no major difference from glock. well one difference I suppose is you dont hear bout S&W's blowing up,cracking from overhardening, improperly bent frame tabs that had a "Free Upgrade" program no recall and bound to be a few pistols around that have them. the tabs will break from normal use. remember a thread a few months ago on glocktalk of a guy looking for info on that had to call glock try to get it replaced. he didnt get very good service but IIRC he did eventually get it replaced.

go to forums for glock, sig, steyr,hk search for "broke" or "problem" will get many hits of such.

I dont hear of people accidently or negligently discharging sigma's. can find a number of video's with Law Enforcement officers shooting glocks when they shouldnt. even officers shooting themselves.

I had one the little 9mms that refused to feed anything and I traded it away. I also had a full size .40 that I hated so much I literally gave it away.

I had an early production SW9F and it had problems. I bought it new in 95 and it sat in the safe untill 02. I was one of the first to get the SW9F after it went into production. I really wanted that gun I drooled over the ads in the gun magazines. I paid 600 bucks for it and I was disapointed in it and the service that I got from S & W. In the first few years that I had it, I sent it back Four times. The big problem was FTF. I just could not trust that it would work if I ever needed it. I have been thinking about buying a new SW40VE just to see if I dident just have a lemon. I have to wait till I get some spendable funds.

And no I am not bashing S & W I have purchased a few things new after that and I have no other complaints. I got a 3956, 4586 and a CS9. I also love the old Model 10 Revolvers I have a few of them. I just think they rushed the early ones out to compete with Glock without working out the flaws that the early models had like mine.

Bought the 9ve--not a single problem! Good value. S&W evidentally had some problems with early production. Gun owners seem to be an unforgiving bunch with memories like elephants.

The SW9VE is a great gun - update

The SW9VE is still a great gun

I really like mine a lot. Shoots right to the point of aim and is a very safe home defense weapon. It is not a range gun though. It is a tactical weapon.

While at the range this past Friday I shot about 50 rounds each through the Ruger KP95 and the SW9VE. At 25 feet the accuracy from both was about equal with 90% of the shots in the black of a 4" ring. Most of the shots from both were in a large single hole. The more I shoot the SW9VE the better I like it. I do have the lighter Wolf striker spring in mine and have since the first week that I owned it.

It does take a fair amount of practice to achieve reasonable accuracy with the SW9VE but once there it is a sweet little shooter.

SW9VE
Browning Buckmark Contour (traded S&W 22S)
Colt 1991A1
Ruger KP95PR15
Ruger KP345DPR
Ruger P512MKIII
Taurus 85B2
Taurus 82SS4

I have the 40VE, it is an extremely reliable pistol. It is nowhere nearly as accurate as my Glock19 but it is accurate enough for self defense situations. At first I too hated the trigger, but after a few range sessions the trigger has smoothed out and it is no longer an issue. An exccelent value gun, more than worth the money.

Back in winter of 2004, I was looking for an inexpensive 9mm that would be cheap to shoot a lot of target ammo through. I was deciding between a stainless SW9VE, or a Ruger P95, and ended up with the Ruger because I read through the manual for a S&W, and it said that use of +P and +P+ is not recommended, and Ruger said that it's fine. I got the Ruger also because it's not "DAO", and I like the single action trigger for plinking. S&W is still a very good gun though, even though it has a bad rep.

The SW9VE is the best value in a new 9x19 today.I love mine and want to get one in olive drab ASAP.
