Texas Summer Concealed Carry Suggestions
I live in East Texas, and it's pretty hot right now (100+).
This means shorts, t-shirts, no jackets, etc. I'm carrying a Taurus PT-111 Millenium Pro 9mm. I recently bought a nylon holster (can't remember brand) that can be worn pretty much any way (right, left, IWB, OWB, front, back, etc). It's okay I guess. I've tried IWB SOB carry, and you can see the outline of the gun but throgh my shirt. I've tried IWB behind hip bone as many have suggested, but that's most visible of all. IWB front carry is more concealed (can't see gun), but it's uncomfortable to sit down.. Does anyone have specific holster and carry position suggestions that will provide both comfort (standing, walking, and sitting), along with Texas standards on concealability (not able to readily tell it's a firearm) for my gun? Thanks much in advance!!!

How about a Kramer shirt holster.Last I saw they were $43.00.Made of mesh and holds a pistol on one side and the magazine on the other. You choose which side to carry gun. There is a velcro strap to hold the pistol in place. The pocket will hold any small size auto or revolver.Fannypacks by Bianchi or Galco are also avilable but don't know if there is a wuss factor there.
Found out recently that the holsters for Taurus PT 145s also fit PT111MPs .Don Hume ,Bianchi, and Galco,or Uncle Mikes have holsters for these.Nylon does keep the sweat of the gun better on some holsters.Strong Holster Co. has a nylon rig but I don't have the web site for it.Others will have more or better ideas on this.P.S. I have PT111 pro but Wisconsin doesn't have right to carry.Do have a Uncle Mikes belt holster if we ever do.

In the hot and humid TX summer, I usually resort to pocket carry of my Kahr PM9 or a Colt Mustang Pocketlite. I have found this to really be the only way to still carry and be comfortable in the heat.
When it cools off, I can go back to IWB and wear a t-shirt with an un-tucked and open button-down shirt over it. That conceals quite well. It also depends on the holster. There are several really good IWB holsters that really hold the gun close to the body for good concealment. Check out Tucker, Milt Sparks, Comp-Tac, KyTac, AKJ Concealco, etc. |

I am also in Texas, and I either carry a Colt CCO in a Milt Sparks VM2 when I wear shorts with belt loops, or a Sig P245 in a SmartCarry holster when my shorts don't have belt loops. I just wear a t-shirt for a cover garment over the CCO. Since that hasn't worked for you, try the SmartCarry.

I live in the Florida heat so understand where you are coming from. I carry a Bobtailed Smith & Wesson Commander in a Brommeland www.brommelandgunleather.com Max Con V at 3:30 - 4:30. The printing problem is solved by not wearing tight clothing (which also makes you hotter). I and others have found that a Tee shirt under the holster and then an unbuttoned, one size larger, overshirt works perfectly. Often folks think they are printing more than they really are. I also use a Sam Andrews www.andrewsleather.com pocket holster holding a Kimber Ultra Carry II, 3" .45 ACP. When all of us started carrying, we all had to accept that some changes in wardrobe and styles of dress are NECESSARY. Some suggest dressing for the gun and not trying to make the gun fit your regular dress. I would also STRONGLY suggest that you pitch that nylon holster in favor of a good Quality Gun Belt and Holster. You will be amazed at how much improvement they provide. I can wear my rig all day long with no discomfort, well concealed and very secure.

I agree with Grand, too.
For 100+ temps, I go either IWB with an un-tucked Golf shirt, with a PATTERN. That breaks up the print. Or a Hawaiian shirt over a tucked-in T. Or a P-3AT anywhere a small wallet would go.

Get a better iwb holster. Its very diffcult to conceal owb here in Texas. Try www.comp-tac.com, www.garritysgunleather.com, www.kdholsters.com. A good quality holster is the key.

Comfortable Texas summer carry????
There is no "comfortable" way to carry in Texas when the day time temperature is upward of 100%. You just have to be uncomfortable until winter.
Don't worry Texas summers only last six months or so.

Pocket carry is fine for the right gun.
T-shirt and an IWB is easy to do if you then buy a light weight larger size floppy shirt to hand over it. Get one of a non clingy, loose material that is 1-2 sizes bigger than your normal shirt size. Go to Wally's for a cheapie. Most folks can carry a Commander sized 1911 or Glock 19 sized gun easily. The smaller semis even better.
