Shot Show, A Trip Back East and General Ramblings!

Still catching up here so my Board presence is still a bit curtailed, but since I have a bit of time this AM, let me toss this report at ya.

First a few words about the communist sheeple filled clintonized gun hating east (NYC and NJ)...from the perspective of a former resident now living free in the great gun state of Alaska.

I spent 1/5 to 1/9 down there unarmed. I never felt a whit of anxiety or fear. Perhaps it's a situational awareness thing, perhaps its the fact that I look a bit insane, but I felt comfortable walking and driving around NYC and NJ even without a gun. Now mind ya, I wasnt wandering around the high crime areeas, but even in Manhatten at 4:30 am leaving a bar I felt secure.

My biggest impresssion of that whole area is this...when I left 25 some odd years ago, the Jews, italians and Irish had already left NYC where their families had immigrated to years before. They had all moved to the burbs. The small shopkeepers and immigrants were Koreans, Spanish, Chinese and Indians....now those folks have moved to the burbs, their kids are going to college, and the new wave of Pakistanis, Arabs, more Spanish and Africans have moved in..they are the ones driving cabs, operating all night delis, driving the trucks, owning small businesses...its a cycle of humanity...it was so cool to be in a bar and seeing all these young, gorgeous, well dressed Asian and Indian girls (and guys but I dont look at them) who evidently have good jobs, who have the exotic looks of their ancestry yet speak perfect NY English...its the new generation of Americans!

As to the current wave of pakistanis and Arabs and africans..of course there are some bad apples among them (no irishman, Italian, Jew or other immigrant came from folks who were 100% law abiding) but the vast majority are here just to build a better life for themselves and their families. They work hard. You may despise the liberal politics of NYC and NJ (and in point of fact for the basic history of all immigrants its the Dems with their chicken in every pot politics and local machine involvement that win these folks) , but the fact remains that the vast majority of folks there represent either the ongoing American dream or the culmination of it...

Ya want to get these folks gun friendly..those of you back there who are gun owners need to work one on one...maybe take an immigrant shooting day or some type of EDUCATION...ranting on this Board about sheeple and all that crap does nothing to foster our sport....working with these new Americans does.

Now off to Orlando Florida..two thoughts...first, having the Shot Show there sucks...attendance was down 35% as I understand it. Next, orlando is like a police state..I saw more cops there patrolling than I saw in NYC....maybe its the Disney Mentality

Now to the Show itself...I really didnt have a lot of time to rubberneck and very little time to visit, got to say hi to Rich but fell out from sheer hangoverness before the SWAT party...but heres a few tidbits:

AW rifles are apparently back...they are nice, but I'll take a Blaser LRS over one.

Century is making Galils! I acted like my usual jerk self, walked up to them and asked them, in light of their crappy Garands, who was making their receivers. its Ohio Ordnance and in view of that, I ordered 13 galils.

The AUG is dead till further notice. Steyr is having its usual import problems.

Thompson Center is going to make a new Bolt Rifle...very cool looking, lets see

CZ/Dan Wesson is taking care of my biggest bitch on their Bobtail 10mms...they have ditched the 20lpi checkering in favor of 30! Hooray!

I ordered 50 Colt 1020 gas guns. Bet I see all the 556s first.

Surefire is comiong out with the X200C...led light and laser combo. Nice.

EOTECH took orders for the 551 with the magnifiers, shipment date this spring. I'm on the list.

Leupold...same stuff, different packaging. All are good though.

For you lovers of high grade stuff...I have engraved Colts coming in, Blaser and Merkle double rifles (500 NE, 470 NE etc), Perazzi shotguns and Schmidt und Bender Scopes.

I gots 1911s coming in from the Colt Custom shop...price points and features like Kimber...but they are Colts!

We picked up the Benelli line for those who like them.

KelTec has a cool bullpup 223 and a new 308, see them in 2008.

SIGs will be discussed later.

Taurus still doesnt impress me, sorry.

I love DSA Fals....group buy?

Kimber has a new tactical rifle. Ho Hum, so does everyone else.

Browning take down lever BLRs...very cool...maybe you will see a WWG Ghost ring on them if I sharpen my pencil enough for them

As to us, look for our Remington 870 Ghost Ring sights at Brownells and Midway..also a ton of LE interest.

Could you perhaps be persuaded to not sell any of the Colts until I return next fall so I can have a fair shot at them?
