Accuracy Potential of Rem 722

Gentlemen....I just had passed down to me..my father-in-law's remington 722 in the 222mag.
I am wondering...what is the accuracy potential of this rifle as I have heard how very accuate these rilfes are.
I am in the load development as of now and have some results of some test loads...using BLC(2) with the 52gr seirra match bullet. These loads are out of the seirra manual

1st group with the one flyer

2nd group

3rd group

I am going to do some tweaking on the 2nd group load.....but the last two groups are under an inch. Should I be satisfied with groups like these or should she do just a tad better.....
Oh...I am going to take her to the gunsmith today to have some trigger work done...it has some creep.

Also...I was told that Remington chambered the 722 in the 222mag....in about 2000 rifles...does any one out there know if this was true....

Thanks so much.....

I once had a 222 mag in a Sako, and it shot 3/4" groups with a factory load, its been so long that i do not remember what brand. Dummy me sold it to start a project, someone got lucky when they got this rifle. That was before my reloading days got started. To get a rifle to shoot under an inch is what a lot of us rifle looneys are looking for, so yes i think you should be satisfied with it. A little trigger work wont hurt anything at all. At first id say you had a bedding problem with the flyers but that may have been just getting use to the gun, because your last group had none. You have a keeper, dont let it go like i did ,

Although I've had a number of 721's..........

I had only one 722, and that was in .300 Savage. I bought it used and it was darn close to new. I scrounged a Canjar single set trigger off my gruff but kindly old gunsmith. May he rest in peace. It shot every thing I put through it well.........It loved handloads and the Speer 130gr hollowpoints. I put a 10X Lyman on it and it raised havoc with the Woodchuck population for a couple of years. I gave it to my son when he came home after a hitch in the service........He still loads for it today. I'd say the 722 would be accurate in any caliber you can find one in. Essex

My .222 cal 722 is probably the most accurate rifle I own. Great varmint rifle.

Well, BLC-2 aint the powder. Try a stick powder like IMR 4895 or 4064

garry...I am going to use thoses IMR powders next.

The gunsmith did not do much good on the trigger. Still has creep. I hate a trigger that has some creep. I need all the help I can get. He said while simliar to the 700 triggers...still pretty hard to get just right....Will worry about the trigger later.....
Thanks
