Quick notes on what he said:
Q: What about shootings today Shock, how could it happen, what motivation of fix, reduce availablity of guns, technology fix. Q: Is the gun the problem - Early influences and family, media. Violence and heritage problems. Guns more available before so something else that is problem. Q:Gun ownership registration like Dems want Not necessary to register. Wants wrist bands with chips and fingerprint technology Q: NRA why not tough on NRA A: if ban soft money we will hurt NRA and their undue influence Q: How stop Columbines? discipline kids in school without fear control media take measures on control, no registration, develop smart guns and tech - close to fruition. *** - not my guy. He will fold on the RKBA if he needs the vote. If he understood the smart gun issue, he would realize the stupidity of his statement. |

Ever notice, if we change the rules (i.e give more gov't control, or change the Rep party) then he will save us? Let's alienate and split the Party and turn it more acceptably Demo.
He is one more sorry-ass poser...a liberal power freak, pure and simple. ------------------ "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes" RKBA! |

Posted this elsewhere, but it's more appropriate here. Glenn and I seem to have the same view on McCain's words. I point out, however, that McCain did speak out in favor of issues counter to the audience on both gun control and abortion, so I'm not in agreement that McCain will fold as easily as Glenn opines.
Tonight, Bush, McCain and Keyes go at it for what probably is the last debate. Well worth the watch, for tonight we'll see how they all answer the gun control issue in front of the nation.
quote:
Well, McCain was asked several questions about gun control in front a large student assembly at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, which had a very big Kalifornia-style anti-gun crowd of students. Students asked him many questions themselves. The lion's den. He did speak in favor of instant background checks at gunshows. He did advocate smart gun technology. He spoke against registration of handguns. He spoke out that parents must control their children more, including what movies, TV and the like should be appropriate for kids. When Columbine came up, he laid the blame at the foot of video games. He said violence is greater today, and it isn't the fault of guns. He made the point that there were a lot more guns available years ago and the homicide rate was much lower. He did advocate strongly the enforcement of laws already on the books. He did say, in response to a "gun lobby" question, specifically the NRA, that they would be affected by Campaign Finance Reform just as would all lobbying organizations. [/quote] |

DC is right on the money, IMHO. Again, I sincerely doubt that George W is our savior. But, my gut tells me strongly that Mr. McCain is a fellow I cannot trust, especially on the issue of the RKBA. Note his comments very carefully.
He claims to somehow be the outsider (even though he's been in Washington DC for a heck of a long time), and an independent thinker. Well, he may take a different road, but I would say that road is probably more along the lines of Bill Clinton's different road than Ronald Reagan's. And, please, don't chastise me for comparing him to Clinton - I mean that comment in relation to McCain's apparent willingness to 'adjust' his philosophies to the moment at hand. I appreciate the man's service to our country, but I'm tired of hearing about it at this point (remember, I'm in Arizona - we hear about his service ALL the time, friends). Regards from AZ |

Did McCain hire some of clinton's advisors? he sure acts like he has. I for one am tired of the bickering going on in the Republican ranks. Even Rush Limbaugh is beginning to sound like some sniveling left winger the way he has been ranting about McCain for the last couple of weeks. The Media and Democraps must be in ecstasy over the crap that comes out about the Republican primary race every day. this is screwing our chances of getting the Clinton/Gore people out of the white house. They are making Gore look like the only sane candidate.

Heck you want to hear a Republican who is bad, 1190 AM in KC has a evening talk show host named Foggle who claims to be a republican and that we need to vote for McCain to change the Party. He is anti gun and seems to resent the conservative elements in the party. Last night someone ask him point blank what we should change and he could not provide an answer. He just stated we needed to change. Rush is polite compared to this guy. I can usually listen for about 10 Min before I want to beat the radio in. |
