Crime has an effect on firearm purchases
So now that the crime has been committed the people of the town are lining up to take the obligatory classes so that they may be allowed to buy a firearm -- maybe. Here in CO we just walk in and buy one and go through the usual CBI anal exam; but there are no classes to attend to simply buy one.
So I guess the drill in CT is to apply for a class, wait for an opening, go to a class, pass the class, and then -- perhaps weeks after the crime for which you wish to protect yourself is long gone -- you may buy a firearm. http://www.foxnews.com/printer_frien...291180,00.html Quote:

Based on the culture of that area, it might not be a bad thing that they take classes.
Otherwise, I can see someone thinking that buying a gun is a magic talisman that will protect them, and having no idea at all how to actually use it. I don't think the government should mandate the classes, of course. That's nanny state. Just that they highly encourage them. Or even offer free classes! Here in CO we buy those magic talismans every day and they protect us just fine.

Jim, there is another open thread, here. It deals with most of the same topics and comments.
This one is closed as a duplicate.
