I love my 995!
It is the best gun buy, bar none, for the money ~ $185 + tax. Fun and relatively inexpensive to shoot. Eats any 9mm ammo, reliably. Fun to personalize. Change stock, add optics, add a sling, suppressor, bipod, etc. Only downsides are: 1. looks (this can be drastically improved with the ATI stock); 2. 10 round magazine capacity; 3. additional magazines only from Hi-Point (but, only $17 shipped). The next time you see someone with one ask to shoot it a bit - you will be a convert! |

Hey Chris in VA
"But I have about 10 extra mags "for my trouble"."
Do you want to pass a few of those extra clips to a brother in need? |

I love my HP...was my first rifle (unless you count my Daisy ) and I cant get enough of it...its cheap enough ammo to keep going all day and you can take it to indoor pistol ranges as well...

i just dont like the looks of the CX4, and a copycat stock doesn't help.
but if/when they come out with the supposed "2nd gen" style, i'll probably buy one |

Kel-Tec_Sub2000
I'm not a big fan of Hi point. Although I've never even shot anything made by them. I just dont like the looks of them, nor have I heard anything good about their quality. But I also havent really heard anything bad either. BUT if you were to ask me what 9mm carbine to get, I would tell you to look at the Kel-Tec Sub 2000. I also havent shot one of them, but I have a friend who has. He said it's VERY accurate, shoots as fast as you can possibly pull the trigger, never jams, And it folds in half for SUPER easy cleaning and carrying/storage. Also, you can get 30 round pistol mags for them and they work flawlessly. Cost about $300. I might get one. I've already got everything else I want. Except a .45 ACP pistol. But I cant afford that right now. Good luck. hope you get what you want! check this link. http://www.gunblast.com/Kel-Tec_Sub2000.htm

Very nice choice. If you dont have one already, always go for the shot gun before anything else. (Pistol, carbine, rifle,) You cant beat a good high capacity shot gun. If I could only own one gun. It would be a high capacity pump shot gun! The US military has their shotgun contract with Mossberg.

Hi. I'm new here, but thought I'd throw my 2 cents into this thread.
I agree the HP 995 is ugly, but when I saw one at a gun show a while back, I bought 'er anyways. Cheap lil' toy, and the first time I took it on the range I loved the results. I haven't had it long enough to discuss wear or reliability yet, but bought used I found no problems after dis-assermbly. My opinion- When you find a plinker for less than the price of a good used shotgun buy 'er, just fer fun. Ta heck with looks. Would I use mine for Home Defence? Only as a last resort, after the .45 Colt, 12Ga pump, and my own bad attitude have failed. (not likely ta happen)

ok basically if you want something that you dont have to worry what it looks like, to be afraid of friends breaking it if you loan it out, or don't want to clean it too often then its perfect.
mine is accurate as hell, ive got over 6k rounds through it since the last cleaning and it just keeps going. when i hit 6k i just stopped counting, i think im somewhere in the neighboorhood of 7,500-8k really. fun trainer to take people to the range with to teach rifle skills. i got mine used with unknown round count, i know ive put over 10k through it and i have yet to have anything go wrong with it. its a machine. |

The iron sights are great, but I like having a reddot on it...
One thing I dont like about the ATI is all the weight that it adds to the gun... |
