mossberg 500 bolt disassembly
Anybody have any info on how to completly strip the bolt on a mossberg 500? There isn't anything in the manual (except telling me I'm not qualified to do it
 ) and the search didn't give me anything.

Aside from removing the bolt slide, why would you need to break it down further? ...just curious.

OOPS...
 I forgot the extractor parts... they too, can be sprayed and manipulated to flush the grime out. I think the roll pin loosens the firing pin and possibly the other doo-dad but mine ended up real smooth without tearing into it.Brent |

Better pics...
I don't know if you still want to tear down the bolt but it looks simple enuff.
Drive pins at front release the extractors... one at back to release the firing pin than large one to release large piece above the firing pin.    Hope you find this useful... Brent |

That vid link is just a basic tear down... I used it to learn these guns but it doesn't help with a severe deep tear down. Just field strip.

people aaalwayss want to ask questions... i'm lookin all over to see how to get this thing together and all i ever see is people asking why or giving advice to just clean it, well, in my case the firing pin came out pretty easy, because it was broken in half...., now that i have an exact replacement its much to long to go in from any angle i can see, any advice? to remove the broken one i simply removed the pin from the side and took the back half out througfh the middle, its an old western field (60's i'd say) i know remoiving the back pin won't get it out becaus the pin tapers down towards the rear and the bolt is shaped to accomodate it, so its too big around at one point to go through...

ok
well, after reaaallly lookin at it i can see that the rear of the bolt is either pressed to make it smaller, or the hammer has just hit it sooo many times in the last 40-50 years its smashed in, so my question too you is... was it done like this intentionaly? or is it internal wear?

Bud, Can you get pics on here? fairly detailed? I have never tore down a mossberg bolt and have never seen one that old...
