I am however amazed at how none of you have a HK VP70Z?
I almost wanted one because they used it in a lot of sci-fi movies. I think they used them in "The Panet of the Apes."

Redneck_ Riot:

Respectfully as to why so few folks have the VP70Z?

1. It's ugly.
2. Terrible trigger.
3. Inaccurate.

I don't know what they sell for, but for most folks money IS an issue, and if I'm going to spend X amount of dollars for a firearm I want the most firearm I can get for my money.

For example:

The HK P7 (and others of the P7 series)

1. Are generally considered if not beautiful, then certainly unique.
2. Fantastic trigger.
3. Amazingly accurate.

So, IF I had more money to spend on HK's (I don't) I would buy another HK P7 that I could use and enjoy, rather than the VP70Z.

I'm not trying to offend you, as we all have different tastes in everything, I just think you know for yourself the VP70Z would be an "acquired taste"..

I haven't "acquired" the taste, but that doesn't mean the pistol is not special to yourself and other folks.

Best Wishes,

Jesse

Thanks.
It's a Milt Sparks VM-2.
I took that photo when it was brand new. It doesn't look quite that nice now, but I've carried it every day for the past 4 years.

its a dustcover. she'd recently been well cleaned and lubed. in a nutshell.... its a lil round black paper sticker.. but it keeps dust from getting in the barrel when its put up.

Wow, HK123, that hammer looks like it would really hurt somethin' fierce if it ever gets the chance to dig into your kidney.

It doesn't. It's no worse than a 1911, and it doesn't bother me one bit. It rides too stable in the holster. Actually I keep it Condition 1 for HD and if I were to carry it I would do so decocked and safety on. For nothing more than the fact that there is one more safety in place between the hammer and firing pin. Unlike a 1911, the HK45 has no grip safety to prevent the trigger movement.

one of the things i never liked while handling the hk's was the magazine release. do you get used to this? for me, it was hard to get my thumb to reach it easily. I love how they shoot and everything about them except this one thing. just curious as to the learning curve for operating the magazine release.

Never had any issues with my mag release, but I have big hands.

Here are a few pics from when I first got my USP.

I use my trigger finger to activate the mag release. It's ambidextrous
However I hardly have an issue using my right thumb.

I think I am convinced. Time to switch from SIG to HK. I am a collector as well as a shooter. Loking for the best book for the HK collector. Any recommendations.
