Can an AR15 carrier wear out, break?

Hello & good day,
I have two Bushmaster AR15, 16" A3 Carbines. I will buy two BCM BCGs. However, can I upgrade the Bushmaster Carrier: new gas key, bolt, etc? Can a carrier break; indeed, it looks very durable but maybe I do not understand stress points.
Again, thank you for your time,

I've been shooting M16/ARs for over 40 years. Seen several abused, seen them shoot in combat, in my NG Marksmanship unit and in high power and 3 gun matchs to present.

I have never heard of a bolt carrier breaking. Not saying it can't happen, anything is possible.
