honestly... that looks awesome ( even on the "white" gun )...

but... maybe even too nice...

I personally love wood like that on "range babies" but could never do that to a rifle that I'd actually hunt with but I'd be very proud to take that to the range on nice days...

i plan on using it as often as i can to hunt with for elk, moose and hope to go to the dark continent in the next 2 years.

thanks for the positive comments.

my brother bought the wood 20 years ago in gunsmithing school and has had it sitting since...when he passed away last march at 50yrs i decided what better way to honor him than make the stock.

Absolutely stunning. Can't say I've ever seen wood like that. I have an 870 Police Magnum that has similar markings on the stock, but yours is unbeleiveable!

What a gun, and in .375 H&H, what a shooter it must be!

ddeyo1:

this is a piece of high exhibition grade Old English Walnut. a blank like this could cost up to or over a grand retail.

my next gun(to be complete nest week) is high exhibition grade claro walnut...claro comes from california. a good piece is darker and has lots of red hue to it.

Nice stock, you should send it off and have some checkering done.

Not to be rude but you really have to watch wood grades cause no one grades wood on the same scale. If you want to see what $1000.00 will get you in a piece of English Walnut check this link out.

Here is a link to a custom stock set I recently sold featuring exhibition grade Paradox Walnut.

That is very nice, very nice. I love English and Bastogne walnut because of the contrast and marbling in the grain. A piece of exhibition grade English walnut is a thing of beauty.

i just went to the site posted ...no offense taken. i looked at these 800$ range blanks and trust me blank was that nice in person.
the owner of AI said it is in the top 5 english they've ever seen. pictures dont do it justice. and they always look way different once they are cut! this stock has fiddle all throughout it.

it was a piece of english my brother had. dont know where he got it?

ROKLOK: the scope bases are made by DNZ and it is a 0ne piece base and ring.

I was referring to the rear sight base, not scope mount. Do you prefer it backwards? Or is there a practical reason for it being so? Great looking rifle, but that rear sight just looks odd to me.

As I understand it, there's English.

Claro is a different species as is Bastogne, American black, etc.

The varying grades such as Special select, Exhibition, XXX, XX, X, etc are based on the color/figure/grain orientation/feathercrotch, etc of the wood.

Just a little FYI.

Not a bad piece. what you planning on doing about the knot holes by the cheek piece?
