Taurus 669, where art thou?

About 18 years back, I owned a Taurus 669. It was a blued 6-shot .357, adjustable sights, with 6-inch barrel and full underlug, and looked a heck of a lot like a S&W mid-frame. Trigger was somewhat rough out of the box, but a couple of thousand rounds took care of that. :-)

I loved that old revolver, but I sold it several years ago in what I have to assume was a fit of temporary insanity. I've looked at the Taurus website, and they don't seem to carry this gun anymore. The closest they have now is the model 66B, a seven-shooter.

Anyone remember this revolver and why it was phased out? Would the 66B give a similar experience?

I have a Model 689...>

...same as the 669 but with a ventilated rib. Mine has been good. Single action trigger is very good, double action only average. I got the revolver in 2004 and it and the 669 were in the Taurus catalogue at the time, but I believe they have since been discontinued.

Very pretty! I remember the 689 - I was stuck choosing between the two, but I was young and less well-heeled, so I saved $70 and bought the blued version.

I found one, just like the OP describes it at a local shop in nice conditions and $275 price with box/manual and all.
I know nothing about this model. Are they good and reliable?
Should I get it?

I found it!

I have a 6" barrel 669 in People's Republik pistol jail right now. Looked good, felt tight. So I bought it.

Found this thread doing some research. Didn't know they had a pinned barrel...

If you go to
http://www.taurusarmas.com.br/
Click on the left tab that says Produtos. Civil arms are what your looking for.

You will see that they still have the 669 and the 689.

I used to own the 6 in. barreled 669 and liked the gun. It however was traded for a newer then 6 shot, 4in. barrel 66.

The below is from the Taurus Brazil site. However the pictures would not come with the data.
