Any one have any experience with these yet? I just got one in and was wondering if anyone has shot one yet?

Really a nice looking little gun.

It's one of the few Taurus pistols I've considered picking up. Let us know how it does.

I won't be shooting this one, I have it for sale. I was just wandering if anyone has shot one yet to see if I need to order another one for myself. I think I really like the feel of this one. Feels really good in my hand. Great vacation gun. 7+1.

They just came out. The distributor that sent me this one didn't think they would be out for a while either.

I'm curious about the recoil and handling of a compact polymer like that...

I handled one 2 days ago at my local gunshop, they were asking $372.00. Nice trigger, 8+1 and it had nice sights. I was going to buy it until a CZ P-01 caught my eye. Looking back I should have scored a double. I also have a P-11 that is so reliable and has more capacity, I hate to go with somthing unknown. Two reasons I like the 709 are sights are better and the trigger is great. The Keltec is true DAO and it isn't exactly a light squeeze. I have had a few times I was a couple inch's off due to the excessively heavy pull.

I really like the 709, and maybe when it establish's a known track record I'll be another BULL packer. I have had exceptional luck with Taurus guns, I realize they aren't perfect, but from recent experience even top name high price guns put out lemons.

Nice to finally see them out!!! What are the dimensions, OAL, width, weight etc? And what does Taurus say about what ammo it is rated for?

The 709 caught my eye too. Looks like it could be a good pistol for the wife if it turns out to be reliable. I still love my wife so I don't want to give her an unreliable CCW gun.

Plus it just looks like a cool range toy/backpacking gun/car gun/camping gun (in IA anyway--no bears here). I hope Taurus's QC has turned a corner because they have some really innovative/cool new designs at decent prices. Not to start the old Taurus vs. X debate, but a lot of my friends own or have owned Taurii in the past. Half will never buy anything else, and the other half will never own one again.

But like I said, this looks promising. I demand a range report.

Man I wish you where shooting that one, I'm dying to know how the hold up. I have had allot of bad experience with Taurus but the 709 really catches my eye. It looks like the ideal size and weight for a .9mm, I just cant bring myself to own one again.

If I had the $600+ to throw down on one, I might...for now though, I'll keep enjoying my PA-63

I know I dropped $750 on a Kimber, but hey, gotta get a 1911 to have a decent collection.

Specs...

Ok, here are the specs on it...
SA/DA
7+1 (two mags), and there is a two round extension available.
Barrel length 3.2"
OAL 6.24"
OAH 4.52"
OAW 1.04"
In single action, the trigger pull is 5-7 lbs, double action 7-9 lbs
Weight is 19oz
3 White dot sights
Adjustable rear sight
Stainless barrel
The mag release is reversable
It also has a loaded chamber indicator
It just says 9mm for the round, so it probably is not +P

I picked up a Kahr CW9 for $418 in Mesquite, TX at S.A.W.

I found it for $420 at Shooter's Edge in Waxahachie.

They are around. I bet there aren't near as many deals to be found in Abilene. You might need to look in Lubbock or whatever big city you go through on your way back if possible.

Dimension numbers are one thing, but you're holding it, do you think it's small enough for pocket carry? How does it compare to, say, a Glock 26? An LCP? Bersa .380? Size-wise I mean.

No, it is not small enough for a pocket carry. It is quite a bit bigger than an LCP. You would need to holster it. I would say it is closer to a compact Glock but more slim. I will try to get a pic of it next to an LCP and a Kel-tec.

Comparison

If I read the specs correctly, the 709's bigger than a Kel Tec P-40???
