Best Home Defense Nightstand
I was recently introduced to this kind of nightstand recently.
The picture I attached is just an example, but the nightstand I saw at my local furniture store was made so the sliding top feature was hidden. It also had a locking mechanism so the secret compartment couldn't be opened by accident or chance. The space is just big enough for a pistol.

Very interesting. I wonder how much stuff I'd knock of the nightstand in the middle of the night when trying to open the sucker?

Good point I guess, but what other than a lamp, an alarm clack, and a book do you keep on your nightstand? I guess I'm anal, but that's all I have on top of my nightstand. the rest of the suff is in the draws.

Well, you could use velcro tabs to keep the items on top from sliding around. Beautiful idea, ugly-ast 70's oak pattern tho.:barf:

I like it, but agree that the style is a little out dated. It's not really '70's, more like late '80's.
I'd like to see more of this type of furniture - I'd seriously consider buying something like that. |

I want one. That might be a good project for me. I might just have to build me one of those.

A few years ago I read a post about nightstand storage and I implemented the idea at my house.
All nightstands have a frame that leaves a dead space between the drawer and the outer wall. If you take out he bottom drawer, you will see a frame member in the rear corner. I drilled a hole in the frame and inserted a wooden dowel. I have an SP101 that when I push the muzzle onto the dowel and the butt wedges itself into the floor of the nightstand. It is now trapped there against the side wall and will not fall out even if the drawer is pulled and the nightstand tipped over. I works very well, I feel safe from the grandkids and the burglars. |

No children in the house so at night I keep my 8045 Cougar on my nightstand and the wife keeps her 3032 TomCat on her nightstand. The Kimber Eclipse is in the bathroom vanity and the 92 FS is under the pillow in the spare room.
