There has been a lot of glee and outright malice in the foreign press as they slam our country over the ongoing election process here. What if the same close vote happened in those foreign countries?

- In Brittian, the new PM would form a weak, totally ineffective coalition government that would get virtually nothing done before collapsing a couple months later, requiring new elections. Much tea would be drunk.

- In Italy, the winner of the close popular vote would have formed a governing coalition which would have collapsed, new elections would have been called, and the same thing happened again - three times already, at least.

- In France, the faction that lost by a hair would call a nationwide strike, bringing commerce, public transportation and the entire country to a halt.

- In Germany, the new leader would be accused of being a former Nazi prison camp guard, which he would deny, and a lengthly investigation would begin. Meanwhile, the government would be paralysed.

- In Japan, there would be a fist fight going on in the Parliment that had to be broken up by the Sargent-At-Arms.

- In Pakistan, a military junta would have taken over and the secret police would start arresting opposition leaders.

- In Russia, tanks would be firing on the Parliment building.

- In China, there would be a sham election, the students would take to the streets, and the tanks would be machinegunning them and crushing their bodies under their treads.

- In Serbia, the Presient's residence would be under seige by 100,000 ****** off Serbians.

- In Burma, rioters would be battling the police in the streets, and several Buddist monks would publically immolate themselves in protest of the new regime.

- In North Korea, the opposition leaders would be quitely rounded up and 'purged' with a bullet to the back of the head.

- In just about any African country you want to name, a bloody civil war would have broken out, fought with AK-47s, knobkerris and spears.

- In Columbia, the drug lords would have bought and paid for the entire election, and there would be no close outcome allowed.

- In Argentina, the new leader would take over, nobody would give a damn other than to argue about it passionately over coffee, and they *still* wouldn't pay their income taxes.

Count me an Argentinian!

What are the down sides to that country, again?
