I have a Colt Officer's Commencement Issue
1911 .45 and would like opinions on the date of manafacture and value. It appears to be unfired and came in a large wooden box, I paid $499.00 for it. Serial # FA00981. There's more information on this piece on the 1911 forum under the same subject. Thank you, Oscar. |

Oscar, the Officer's Commencement Issue was produced in 1984 with 1,000 being made. It should have the Marine Corp emblem, rosewood grips and silver plate oak leaf scroll. In 100% unfired condition it could be worth about $600-$650. The original issue price was $700. Hope this helps!

Steve,
It is exactly as you described.Thank you very much for the information.I purchased this as a carry piece and now I'm not so sure I want to carry it as my carry guns get knocked around.I may just keep it as a house gun. Thanks ![]() Oscar. |
