I have a Colt Officer's Commencement Issue
1911 .45 and would like opinions on the date of manafacture and value. It appears to be unfired and came in a large wooden box, I paid $499.00 for it. Serial # FA00981.
There's more information on this piece on the 1911 forum under the same subject.

Thank you,

Oscar.

Oscar, the Officer's Commencement Issue was produced in 1984 with 1,000 being made. It should have the Marine Corp emblem, rosewood grips and silver plate oak leaf scroll. In 100% unfired condition it could be worth about $600-$650. The original issue price was $700. Hope this helps!

Steve,

It is exactly as you described.Thank you very much for the information.I purchased this as a carry piece and now I'm not so sure I want to carry it as my carry guns get knocked around.I may just keep it as a house gun.

Thanks
Oscar.
