What do you think is the best quality Mauser 98 rifle available these days? Yugo M48, Czech VZ24, Turkish 1938, whatever else?
I want the least worn, most reliable, most accurate, smoothest one available. Too much to ask? |

I'm still working on selecting my first Mauser myself, but AimSurplus.com had some Yugo M48's that they were calling "very good" ... I'd give them a call and ask their opinion. They have always been 100% open with me in the past. They once told me: "No ... from listening to you, I don't think you you will like this High Power ... it saw a lot of use in the desert and the finish is pretty rough" ... They also told me that I would like my Garand that they sold me ... they were wrong there ... I LOVED that Garand when it arrived! If you tell them what you are looking for and they still rave about their M48's, I'd bet that you will be happy. As far as accurate ... I haven't heard that any particular model is better. Maybe someone else can elaborate on that.
