2200 fps,, 60 gr ZINC swc in 357 Sig, penetrates MORE

flesh, car metal, or wood than a 9mm ball rd can, so if the prefrag's penetration depth is a worry for you, then load every other rd with the swc. Then at least HALF of your rds will be good stoppers. You can also use the lathe to make the swc into a shallow 'cup point" to reduce the likelihood of the swc's glancing off of the sloping forehead and thick bone of a large animal. Lug around a 40 oz, 9" 357 revolver as you backpack and you soon wont think so highly of it. I prefer to have the gun either in the leg pocket, with a thin plastic holster to preclude chafing, or in a fanny pack at the navel, top open to access the gun swiftly. A pack harness precludes the CONCEALED wear (and swift access to) nearly all types of holsters. You can easily go jogging with a 20 oz (loaded) 357 sig pocket auto, tho.

Sounds really interesting

...but I guess I missed the context. BTW, as something to think about: Does a zinc bullet at 2200 fps penetrate a Level II vest? It could (would) then be taken to be an armor piercing pistol cartridge. AP pistol cartridges are strictly verbottin, by federal regulations and most state laws. Just a heads-up.

I'm moving this one to... um, [hmmmmm... H&R? Nope. Auto Pistol? Nope. Ahhhh! Here we go!] to General Handgunning Forum.

All best,

L.P.

Could the original post be an answer to a question asked somewhere else? If not, it makes no sense. By the way, who makes a 9" 357???

ALL 357's with 4" barrels are 9" long, or longer, in

the case of the N frames, Redhawk, etc. No, the laws are NOT written about AP PERFORMANCE as such. They state that you cant have handgun ammo which lacks a lead CORE, or which is made of brass, steel, or bronze. Nothing is said about zinc, copper, etc, and a hollow base with a SMALL lead birdshot pellet DOES have a lead "core", eh? Yeah, this post relates to 2 others which conveniently got DELETED.

Hmmm......ultralight very high speed projectiles have been around since the turn of LAST century. Have their place for specialty work and not worth a hoot for most just plain shootin. Over a hundred years and still pops up occaisionaly.

Hi shucks. I know you from somewhere don't I? You're literary style reminds me of someone from another forum. You don't by any chance have an interest in the AR-15 family of firearms do you?

HAVE I MISSED SOMETHING?

I manufacture ammunition that uses BULLETS, real BULLETS.
(Although some of you may have noticed I recently asked one of our members if he could make gold bullets......but they'd be REAL bullets.)

Questions / comments / discussion invited.

This thread started off as practically pointless.

Blue Duck357, very astute.
