So, what, exactly are the advantages of your conversion?
What materials did you use?
How does it handle?
What does it weigh?

I couldn't read that info, it was all blocked by a long paragraph talking about how Cav Arms sucks.

While I am glad that you can deliver product, I do not feel it professional for you to "slam" another company as part of your advertising.

Firing Line members have a pretty good ability to detect bad product and share it amongst each other.

well that's kinda cool.. I presume the stock is locked in the open position? Or are there pre-ban SL-8s? (pardon, I don't know much about HKs)

Is the whole bolt/trigger group assembly pretty much the same between the two rifles then? Barring FA fire, of course?

IIRC, you simply transfer your existing fire control parts into the new lower.

Personal attacks is a marketing scheme for SW.

Guess the stuff I've heard about the people at SW being jackasses is true...

Looks like a nice conversion though. Certainly beats the stock SL8 in the looks department...

How much does this stock and magazine well adaptor/reciever modification cost?

It would be nice if you'd answer people's questions instead of complaining about getting gang ****ed.

Todd,

Nice looking stocks, glad to see you were able to pull it off. We actually have a conversion for the USC, but have not tried to sell them yet, we are cutting tooling for the stock first. We are going for a whole package instead of the quick buck.

Glad to see your still the super little dude we all know and love. I am a little hurt by the "gang " comment. You know you have a special place in my heart and if you ever need anything, I'm there for ya little buddy.

(Art wuz nice, and only edited a lil bit.)

I don't want to get in the middle of this fight. I will say, however, that Cavalry is about 30 years late on their Plastic lower idea. Been tried and rejected for durability. I'll say that plastics have improved greatly since then though. Here's Colt's Version:

What does this 1800dollar + however much the kit costs SL8 do that a brace of mini-14's and a case of ammo or a mini-14 with a match grade barrel and an acog won't?

It seems to me that this kit thingy here isn't worth buying, especially given Special weapons "reputation for quality".

Bager...I was wondering when someone would find that picture. Yep, Colt did almost the same thing as I'm doing back in the 1970's. I believe there is a section in "The Black Rifle" that talks about the early try by Colt to use plastics (actually I think it might have been thermo-set). There were 2 problems then:
1)Plastics where not as evolved and
2)..The real killer...People wouldn't buy a plastic gun (you can make anything not work)

Thank God for me (H&K, Glock, Ruger, SIG, STI, Khar, S&W, Styer, Walther, FN and now even Todd) Plastic is greatly improved and people know it. There are 2 Kinds of gun companies now:
1) The kind that work with plastics
2) The kind that are going under...

Heck, you could make scope rings out of "Peek" that would out perform steel. The trouble is there isn't a big enought demand and they would cost almost as much to make.

Are you guys really both from Mesa? Sounds like a good time waiting to happen to me. Either of you going to have a booth at the gunshow this weekend?

I'm interested in the conversions, but it's hard to wade through the flames.

One guy has a product out and the other guy sounds like he's doing something similar, but making "the whole package?"

Is Badger Arms making one too?

Good Grief...

Professionalism is one hallmark of a good company. Delivering a good product is second. If you don't have the first one, a LOT of people are never going to give you a chance to show if you've got "number 2" (pun intended).

That statement is 100% correct. I don't care whether the product is great or lousy if the company in question is represented in an unprofessional fashion. If a company comes across as a bunch of camo-clad mall ninjas working out of a garage, people will be wary about engaging into adult business contracts with them. Just a thought...great product or not, marketing must sell it. Teenage jabs at the competition are bad marketing outside of selling video games and zit medicine.

Nice product, but after seeing this post I'm curious about the type of customer service recieved if there is a dispute with the product.

I admire pride in a product. Heck, being boastfull and sure of your product is another good thing. Slamming a competitor in a personal manner in a public forum isn't.

I'd considered it. Brother has a CNC in his Garage and had about 10 years of Injection Molding experience. I've got a picture of a Colt lower. Just use Graphite or Glass impregnated Super-Tough Nylon. Alas, I have a thankless Day Job. At least there are no patent issues to deal with anymore, are there?

Anybody got $15,000? I'll tool up and be in production in 9 months.

Why is it that no decent, respectable company is making these things right now?

I don't want to give my money to a company that acts this way, and furthermore I have no urge to spend more in "dressing" than the firearm cost to begin with.

Why is it that no one is putting out a folding stock / carrying handle / etc conversion kit that would turn the SL8 to the G36 - and with a quickness? Am I the only person who'd buy a ready made *actually working* rifle like this?
