When semi's go full auto?

Anybody have this experience?

I was at this outdoor range...I had a Tanfoglio (TZ-75 Compact) and we had shot some pretty hot 9mm out of it and it hesitated on a couple of rounds, but nothing too bad.
My friend gets a hold of IMI (and) Samson rounds that say that it is loaded for submachine gun fire.

We stoked the magazine with that kind of "hot ammo" and the gun went short(Tri?) bursts with one touch of the trigger.
Anybody else have this kind of "machine gun" happening?

I've only heard of this on older 1911's when the sear is worn out.
You've a potentially dangerous situation. I suggest the gun not be fired until a 'smith checks it out.

I have had it happen with a High-Power after a trigger job. It fired three shot bursts but was very controllable. I took it back to the smith and I had it repaired. I suspect it is poor sear engagement rather than the ammo. Regards, Richard

An old high school buddy used to have a Glenfield M-60 .22 rifle that would go full auto at times.

It would only happen when the gun was "just so" dirty. After shooting a few boxes full auto, it would start jamming and we'd have to clean it. Then it would return to semi-auto until it got dirty enough again.

sKiTjacKsOn: There are actually two different full auto glocks in that video, a full size (G17?) and compact (G19?) each with the little magic device on the back of the slide. The not so seamless switch between the two occurs between 10 and 11 seconds.

it was my understanding that the auto glock was the G18 (that is semi/auto selectable)

what is this "little magic device" that can be put on a 17 or 19 to make it behave this way?.... and.... eehm.... where would a decent law abiding citizen acquire one?

does it decrease the life of the gun much? (#rounds/life of gun)

Suggest, at minimum, replacing your firing pin spring with a new one from EAA (Witness spring fits). Also might consider a 14- or 15lb Wolff recoil spring.

Never had it happen with a pistol, but my father had a carbine version of the M1 Garand that went full auto. I believe they called it a Tanker Garand and it had a minor problem where it would rattle of a full 8 round clip in only a few seconds. Not my idea of a fun gun.

I've had two guns double on me. Both were 1911's, and both were .45's. I bought the first one used, and one of the previous owners had apparently shortened the disconnector to get a better trigger pull. The second gun had just had a trigger job and the gunsmith fixed it for me. It's no fun when you're not expecting it. I've heard of guys getting reverse mohawks when their 1911's emptied the entire mag full auto.
