As always, Unclenick gives good advice. I had actually come up with the same idea with using the string, laser bore sighter, and a piece of paper (mine's cardboard) to get the chrony set up. Although, I have neither the string nor the laser bore sighter
it was an idea I've had kicking around in my head for a few years but never bothered to actually do.
But I'm sure the idea is sound!
