I'm a huge Ruger fan in general and would say "Yes!" to a P-series pistol any day, though my preference would be for .40 S&W (P94 models) over the 9mm Euro Pellet. Ultimately, I would suggest a revolver, the Ruger GP100 4" stainless model. Sits ready in a concealed place, uncomplicated and good to go at all times.

Again, off topic. I second the poster who suggested a short barrel 12 gauge pump gun for home defense with this caveat; motion sensor lights, a well pruned yard, good locks and the shotgun as your ultimate back-up as you dial 911.
