The first winter was a very hard one (that was '93 and I even had to shovel my house roof in Harrisburg twice that winter), and we had only had the shell up so far.... no insulation, drywall, gasline for the lights, or plumbing yet. We came up in the spring to do some more work and found the roof collapsed into the second floor.

The main building in the picture is actually 'Model 2'. This time we used trusses in the roof instead of just rafters and crossmembers. In fact now it, and all our outbuildings, are well over-engineered. We're all too old now to go through that nightmare again.
Ten years later it's still there, so I guess we got it right in the end.
