gun safety for dummies

Makes me wonder just how tough the South Carolina CWP course is for him to achieve a perfect score.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ur8QqcEP4Ew&NR=1

A bunch of soon to be classic lines. Way too many to mention but here are a few of my favorites;
Quote:
it's chambered in forty. Not that...
Umm, forty caliber.
Not that that means much to anybody.
Noooo. Of course not.
Except perhaps to clumsy DEA agents.

And, as he shows us the his field stripped Glock 23...
Quote:
and you got the barrel, and the spring. Which you don't...
Well, you need a spring, you just don't need to know what it does, umm exactly.
Riiiiight. Don't worry, the recoil spring ain't important.

But what IS important is safety.
Helpful advice such as;
Quote:
At least on a semi-automatic pistol you check that by, one, keeping the barrel pointed in a safe direction. IE away from any people. Pointed at a hardstop? Being that if the gun accidentally did go off then the bullet would be stopped by whatever it was pointed at.
I, Well I, I just, I, I could not have said that.

And one of my favorites which I'm sure will become one of yours too...
Quote:
Now this is called a clip okay. Holds the bullets that the gun fires.
And one important thing to know is that you don't want to mix-match ammunition. You don't want to fire too large or too small of a round through a gun that is not chambered to fire that kind of ammunition.
WOW!!! Far out man.
Like this dude is like so INSIGHTFUL man.

Quote:
That's about all you need to know about semi-automatic pistols.
Don't ever point them at anything you don't intend to fire at or would be okay with firing at.

Which doesn't include your cheating husband.
Or wife.
By the way.
Okay, I'm confused.
Does that mean you can or can not shoot cheating spouses in SC?

how about this bit of unscripted humor while picking up a loaded revolver with the cylinder opened;
Quote:
Alright. This...
is...

cartridges fall out and bounce around

(long pause and painfull facial expression)

a

revolver.

(expletive deleted)

picture jumps as camera is stopped and restarted
take two

as his trusty hookah exits the picture stage right a revolver enters the picture stage left...
Quote:
And this my friends is a revolver. this time the cylinder is closed

This is a Smith & Wesson chambered in .38 special... Plus P not that that means anything to you.
It's actually a MIM pre-lock S&W 337Ti Kit Gun if that means anything to you.

Quote:
Not all, but most revolvers are dual action
Ahhh but are any of them double purpose?

and the best line of the whole dang video, uttered as he twice taps himself on the right temple:
Quote:
I wish I had a gun that had a safety on it but I don't.
Finally! Something all of us, especially his neighbors in the next apartment, can agree with!

Not only is he an idiot, he will one day be a one-handed idiot. Also, he doesn't even know what constitutes the chamber of a pistol. Drop mag, look down mag well, release slide, pull trigger, and BANG! Hopefully he will be the "hardstop" and nobody else will be injured.

I truly fear for his neighbors!

I noticed the title of the video was Traitor's Gun Safety Course. Appropriately titled as he definitely made himself a poster-boy for the Brady Bunch.

Yeah what an Idiot... of course I could nto stand to watch it all... did he show proof that he passed a CWP class?

Besides honeslty and let's take the bull by the horns here, most CWP classes are pretty minimal... and booting nim-rods like this would be at the discretion of the instructor, who may be under pressure by the store running it to just let things slide....

The worse part is it looks like he has a Hookah in a few shots which probably means he was smoking pot and high while doing his public service announcement

What a MORON!

He's going to "take it upon himself" to teach safety!?!?

I know it's irrational, but I hate him so much! I can't help it! He's such an idiot! That hat! The droning nonsense! The classical soundtrack! PUT ON A SHIRT YOU FREAKKK!!!

Okay, self control restored.... I think I need a drink now.

That is painfully, disgustingly, frighteningly bad.

Hey, moron, stop pointing the gun at your own left hand...

There is a slim chance that he posted this video with a sense of irony. I mean, no one would SERIOUSLY post a gun safety video and have a hooka in hand. Or at least thats what I'm hoping.

At what time did he actually point the gun in a safe direction? He pointed to the trigger and called it a trigger guard. Some good could come of this. We could tout him as a bomb expert, get him to make a video, and "accidentally" let it leak to terrorist training camps.

"Traitor" who made the video goes by the name karxmarl1.
Obviously a play on the name Karl Marx (who is not to be confused with Groucho, Harpo, Chico, Zeppo or Gummo, all of who were both funny AND intelligent).

The You Tube page actually gets better if you read the comments section lower on the page. Traitor/karxmarl1 actually responds to some of his critics.

I am beginning to wonder if he is somehow related to Miss Teen South Carolina?

My favorite comment on that page . . .
Quote:
taught me a few things (Like where the safety is on a Revolver)
I'm still looking for a safety on my revolver. I guess I got cheated!

Jesus, would have liked dude to make sure the chamber was clear before he started messing with the gun instead of at 2:13 into his safety course.

This could be the guy who knows everything standing next to you on the range.
Don't worry pal I know the gun is empty. Accidental discharge never happens, right.

I do like how he keeps on falling back on (paraphrase) "hey do not talk to me about gun safety I got a 100 on my ccw test."

Hey I aced a math test or 2 when I was in school, but trust me when I say you do not want me calculating structural loads on the building you live in.

did anyone read the comments? the guy is serious. he thinks that because he checked the chamber he can completly ignore muzzel control. he bassically said that in one of the comments. I tried watching one of his other videos and I'm positive he was high in the other one that I tried to watch.

Well you must admit the concept of internal hammer vs external hammer vs striker is a bit lofty for those who can't comprehend the recoil spring.

Or in his case, with the original attempt with the revolver, gravity.

ummm, yes they do.
Show me any revolver* that doesn't have a hammer?

*the fine print
For this dare, a revolver is;
A firearm with a single barrel and a rotating cylinder with multiple chambers.
The cock on a flintlock revolver is considered to be a hammer since it's motion and function is the same.

Blues and Rb,
I think you are both right, I beleve all revolvers have hammers but some are concidered "hammerless" as they do not have an exposed hammer, IE. Tarus 850, S&W 640's & 340 airlite series. My airweight has a non-traditional looking hammer, rather it is flush with the crown at the top of the grip area. Nothing to snag when in your pocket.

when he said all revolvers had hammers he was reffering to exposed hammers that could be cocked manually, like the one he was demonstrating with.

Very amusing, especially the opening scenes with the waterpipe mouth piece and the hand all over the bangity end of the pistol, as he tells how he will eventually check to see if it is loaded.

And when somebody sets out to teach something as heavily detail oriented as how a gun works, he can darn well get the terms right and say what he really means.

Unless he's stoned when he does it. Guess the munchy scene was edited out.
