LEGAL immigrants, no matter where they come from, ought to be welcome if they pull their weight, accept basic American values - lots of leeway here - and contribute to our society.

ILLEGAL immigrants, IMHO, are dangerous on so many levels that it makes me :barf: to listen to the preposterous beatings of their apologists.

The manpower estimates in the above posts assume the border would be closed totally, 100%, with no "leaks." This is well-nigh impossible.

On the other hand, I venture to say it would take an order of magnitude LESS manpower to close the border 99%, especially if it became known that illegal border crossers had a darned good chance of winning a Darwin award.
