This is it!!!! This is the weekend I will shoot for the first time AND see my first gun show in Tulsa! Did I say I was nervous before? Well I am even more nervous now! But I will do it and report back on Monday sometime. I am leaving Friday so I thought I would post this now, not too sure if I will be online that much the rest of the week. So when I get back I will understand more what you people are talking about. Lady DeeJ, I've got the Advil packed up! Did I mention I was nervous? LOL

Go for it Miss D. Have a blast (pun intended.) Wear your shooting glasses and ear plugs. Remember, shoot 'till ya puke. No, not really.

Too bad you're not going to get about 2 hours further south; I'd take you shooting, too! Any ideas what guns are on the menu? Completely informal, formal training, or somewhere in between?

Observe the 4 rules of gun safety, always! (Link to them is at the top of this very page. [thanks, Rich!])

Do have fun, and wear your ears!

Will you, too, be one who stands in the gap?

You go girl !
Shoot as many guns as possible & 'aveagoodweekend.
Don't worry about fantastic groups to begin with....
After a few thousand rounds things will get better & then you get to "take out" the crotch area of that B-27 target.

Long path, Jeff will have to fill you in on what he is bringing I can't remember! Just hand it to me and I will shoot it, I'll try just about anything but that .357 still kinda gives me the eebie jeebies.

What is amazing to me is that 6 months ago she was writing letters to her Congressman in support of gun control! Now look at her!

After the off site safety training we will go to the indoor range and watch other shooters so she knows what to expect. When she feels ready we will step into the booth and begin.

1. Oympic X-Ring .22 rifle (copy of a Ruger 10/22)
2. S&W K-22
3. High Standard Victor (it is heavy)
4. S&W mod 41 w/2x Leupold scope
5. Walther PP-22
6. Walther TPH
7. Walther PP-32
8. Walther PPK .380
9. Browning GP-Comp
10. SIG P225
11. Eagle Arms Golden Eagle (evil black gun)
12. Eagle Arms Carbine (more evil black gun)

I don't know if we will progress this far, if so, great, if not, no big deal. If she wants to continue I will have a S&W 686 6" that she might try some .38 wadcutters in if we can get around the revolver problem. I will also have a couple of .40 S&W's if she wants to deal with more recoil.

Miss D, have a great time. We admire your courage in not only reexamining your political philosophies, but also confronting what was for you a frightening unknown. We need strong women like you, and I'm very glad to have made your acquaintance.

Now, try to not make Jeff look too bad ... women seem to have a spooky tendency to be terrific shots! Take care.

Jeff, you're a good man.

I am not going to shoot in her presence. Are you kidding? I am not that good a shot, I couldn't stand the embarassment.

Miss D..

Wear ears and .357 is BIG FUN. I'm a much better shot with my Blackhawk .357 than my 1911...and you can shoot .38s. Go with the spirit of safe fun and you will have a blast (pun intended).

My own bias...you will LOVE the rifles

Have fun. Nothing to be nervous about.

Keep a sharp eye out at the gun show--you might just find a bargain!

Pictures?? Cameras and I do not get along well. My daughter is the photogenic (sp?) one of the family, not I. LOL I'll think about it though.

Jeff you're not going to shoot? I didn't think you were a wimp! LOL

Miss D:
You'll Love the .357! What I learned as a NY'er that moved to Savannah was that I didn't need to start with a 9mm to learn to control recoil. The .45 I fired was more fun, and put a bigger hole in the paper, and felt easir to shoot.

This is for fun, and you will learn why we all say that. It's my equivalent of Golf: The concentration, the physical requirements, the mental processes, are more mind cleansing and better than golf. The time will fly by so quickly that you'll not believe that it went that fast. Hitting the X-ring (which you will before you leave that day, trust me) is better than sinking a 30-foot putt.

BTW: The reason it's better than golf is because you don't have to wear REALLY ugly pants!
