Can't wait to see how it works for you. Is this with the short barrel, 8 round magazine?

It will shoot either, of any manufacturer.
Stay with the lighter grain bullets as it has a relatively slow twist and needs a faster bullet.

The Saiga 308 has been on my wishlist for awhile now.
(It's a long wishlist :-)

Give us some feedback after you get a chance to shoot it!

Yep it will take almost anything that will stuff in the magazine..

The really high powered stuff will probably wear the gun down faster so maybe just keep to the normal power stuff.

I made a number of these for mine

reloading 308 will not be in your future. It flings the brass as far as the bullet

AK type weapons do seem to throw brass halfway across the county. And if you do find it, it will probably have dents in it from getting beat up on its way out.

My Saiga .223 dents the crap out of the brass.

308 saiga

I got the Saiga .308 w/wooden stock, then equipped w/ picatinny side mount with a side and top rail, mil-spec cheap scope and two 8 round mags and strap. I've put around 150 rounds through it of mostly cheap as I can find ammo. Wolf, Silver bear, Federal, and surplus military. It's fun to shoot. I took it deer hunting some when I was hunting from hunting house or stand.

Ah, the good old days, I paid $259 for mine new. So what are they going for these days, a bazillion dollars? I've seen them in shops for $700. I think when all is said and done the .308 version will end up being the most desirable. My .223 is a great gun, but I got rid of the 20 guage (and made some $$ doing it). If it would have been the 12 guage I'd still have it.

Saigas were once the best value in the gun world.
