I think all Springfield frames are forged in Brazil.
Imbel makes Springfield's frames. Same folks that make excellent FAL receivers (and entire FALs, but we can't import those ).

Just out of curiosity, how many have Springfields with the GI/Colt spec'd frames? The early guns were real close, but that only seemed to go for a short while, and then they ran all over the place. They still seem to be running the "frame of the month".

My last Springfield, a Champion, was pretty close, most of the others over the last 15-20 years or so, were not. Playboy's looks like its in the middle.

They usually vary enough size wise, that you can have three guns in front of you, and all will feel different in your hand.

I also got a SA Champion this weekend and can confirm its reliability, accuracy, and value.

Mine was used and came with Hogue wrap-around grips but evertyhing else was factory. An absolute pleasure to shoot and much more accurate than my SA mil-spec.

The gun is built rock-solid and the added features (tritium night sights, extended beaver-tail, skeletonized trigger and hammer) make it an excellent value. It would be easy to spend much more on a piece not nearly as well-put together.

It is in contention to replace my .357 as my nightstand gun, wich is saying A LOT.

I do not think a lot of people are aware of how great a gun the Springfield loaded series really is when you get right down to it.

I'm with you PBP.

Springfield Armory 1911's are a quality firearm for hundreds less than many other brands.

P.S. PBP I really like your range report format. Please take no offense if I steal it to report on other firearms. It is indeed sincere flatery. RP

I looked at a Colt defender a month ago, but after seeing PBP gun, I went and looked at one today. It is going to take a bunch of self-restraint to not buy it

A little cash here, a little cash there and...presto! A beautiful Springer to hold and hug and stroke its fur backwards and name it George...

I probably won't get it.
We are expecting our 3rd kid(I'm starting my own race here in MO)
So, now I have to focus on buying a bigger house

Plus the cost of the ammo means my fullsize gets the nod.(and all the mods)

in response to "Nothing made in America is good"

i thought rugers were made in America? If so i would classify them as good, solid handguns.

Very nice gun, I have the full size parkerized model and it is a great shooter too. I like you taste and in fact I plan on buying the same gun as yours with my tax return this year.

Nice gun. I wish Springfield would make a blue steel loaded Champion again.
