Are any of the current presidential candidates real shooters? I.e., do any of them hunt, plink, compete, or own guns for self defense? Those who take a well-publicized "hunting trip" only when trying to appease gun owners don't count.
I'm tired of having golfers in the White House. |

Alan Keyes answered 'Yes' to a question on MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews on whether or not he owned a gun. Matthews framed the question around the 2nd amendment and Keyes' previous response about the 2nd being necessary for a free people to be able to oppose aggression, foreign or domestic. Matthews asked if he owned the gun to protect against a tyrannical gov't wherein Keyes' stated he kept it primarily for defense of his family but, that in a larger sense, it was part of the concept of a free people being armed for the preserving of a free nation.

Does anyone remember when Clinton was first running for Pres. he went on one of those "well publicized" hunting trips. I seem to remember seeing him in a blaze orange hat and duck coat carrying a shotgun.
I'd sure like to see that photo again... ------------------ RKBA! "The people have the right to bear arms for their defense and security" Ohio Constitution, Article I, Section 4 Concealed Carry is illegal in Ohio. Ohioans for Concealed Carry Website |

BluesMan,
You are absolutely right; Clinton has had several choreographed photographs bird hunting (with shotgun in-hand). |

Bluesman, the first Clinton hunting photo-op I remember was just after the AW ban. He came out of the woods, dressed in camo, along with
the rest of the entourage. He was carrying a Benelli Super 90 which, if it had had a pistol grip and one other feature, would have been an "assault weapon." Ya gotta love him. Dick |

GW did get into trouble for downing an endangered species, IIRC.
However, I would caution that sport shooting is not the RKBA. Steven Spielberg was on the cover of GunGames with his big old rich dude Skeet guns. Although, I wonder about his views after that stalker wanted to make him squeal like a pig while his wife watched. |
